Hasselblad X1D - 50MP Medium Format Mirrorless Camera Review!

Holy moly that's a long title! I test out this $9000 medium format digital camera in 60 min race against the car park attendant!

Only touched ONCE in Photokina 2016, man EPIC industrial design! It looks good, feels good in hand (such a nice grip!), battery release mechanism just works like a dream! It's unapologetic METAL but still round at edges, and the body is so thin!

Kai, as a person who finds your comedy to be aboslutely hilarious, it seems like reviewing cameras in a comedic fashion only caps the limit of your skill. Kai, I want to thank you for being the one who made me get more into photography (DigitalRev refugee here) and for inspiring me to keep on going on shooting.

Great review Kai, images are pretty special.. But we need you to compare the two mirrorless medium format cameras side by side though... Both are pricey and offer blistering image quality... oh and a reduction in the bank balance..

Right...
In the analogue ages medium format meant more details and sharper images because it used a larger surface area of the same media (film). However, with digital photography this advantage is disappearing and the only difference between the formats is going to be the crop factor.
So unless a company produces a medium format sensor that's identical to their full frame or APS-C sensor but delivers x times the resolution of those smaller sensors I don't see any advantage in using medium format.
