I am currently an 8th grade AVID student, I'm just gonna give it to you straight, AVID sucks, but wait AVID has given me the skill of perseverance and responsibility. Currently i have a 100 in the class, if you just focus and get the work done then everything will be good, also you need a binder. The binder is the key to AVID. If your binder isn't organized than you've pretty much flunked the class. That's my take on AVID.

I am a 6th grader currently taking the 7th grade course in AVID, and it's not that bad. Just recently we went on a field trip to the university of Washington and we had a self guided tour on the college campus. Plenty of the kids in my grade don't like AVID, but I think that it's great, especially for people that are first generation college students because of what is teaches you but I think that almost everyone can benefit from taking the program.

Ok here's my problem. First off, when one of the 7th grade teachers gave us a presentation on AVID, (I'm in 6th) I was super excited! I mean who wouldn't want to learn about university and how to do stuff like that? Well, I have really bad social anxiety and get really scared talking in front of large groups of people, so when they talked about explaining the problems their having really made me change my mind. I simply can't talk in front of people...But I really want to do this. Can someone please tell me if I can say that I have anxiety and I can't do it? Or would I have to? Thanks!

This video is so well done. It looks professional and you get so many great testimonials from students, tutors and the teacher. People don't know AVID get better understanding and people who do know get a great idea about AVID at your school and ideas for their AVID class.

Have you thought about making videos about specific areas of AVID? Tutorial? Philosophical Chairs? Cornell Notes?

I thought you guys would win the AVID video contest. I really liked your work.

Im in avid at my middle school. At my middle school u can get in the program in 6th grade first you have to fill out an application then they interview you for me it was backward since i didnt get the application but i put it as one of my electives for 6th grade they did the interview and gave me the application and i got in. This year im in 7th grade well it will be offical on the 15th which is my second year in avid. Thanks to avid i got into a program which you take in the summer. Its of 5 week pre algebra and you take the same test at the beginning and the end if you improved then you got algebra honors for 7th and if your great in science you get earth/space science honors which is two high school credits. In 8th i will take geometry honors and i think physical science honors im not postive when it comes to the type of science but in the end i am two years ahead in math and science and get 4 high school credits which then in 9th grade i will take algebra 2 honors and i think chemistry honors the only thing is that avid isnt available anymore at the high school that i will be going to but my avid teacher said that there is a program not at the high school but is similar to avid that will vist the room when we are in 7th grade. I recommend avid to anyone avid is a college prep class that does require some work but if your willing to do it then it will all pay in the end.

Screw this class, The teacher commonly loses your work in this class because of the sets used to avid classes.

Why are people saying that avid didn’t give them anything or do anything for them ? Avid doesn’t give you anything it’s to PREPARE you.

For everyone whos saying that AVID is a waste a time well... AVID is for people who really want it willing to work hard. The trf forms yea might get you scared or it might be a waste of time . I use to think that in 6th grade, now i see how much it has helped me. My class and me were very close to the point where we were honest and say i didnt have a question so i tried and they were supporting we're family. In 6th grade i thought AVID was horrible but now few years later still in AVID and I love it and understand it. Im proud because i have a scholarship on my path.

Avid is great, although, I do despise TRF's. 2 days a week, you need a "question" about something you don't understand. In my opinion, that isn't very consistent.

if yall dont think avid is a good opportunity, yall just dont wanna put in the good work. You literally get your own special teachers for each class, get field trips (which is very rare for middle schoolers), and can get you scholarships, so stop ruining these other kids hopes to be in avid because its a great opportunity if you want to be successful in life.
