I did your lesson #1 to my Ram 2500, and lesson #4 to my Tahoe fixed my problems. Thank you, saved me lots of money.

I was just about to book bike in to garage to get valve changed, watched this video and realised you can change the valve stem without removing tyre. I popped down to Halfords ( 4 new stems and tool for less than 9 quid the lot) and had the job done in a few minutes. All fixed now and saved quite a bit of money. Thanks a lot.

Great video. I had a slow leak which I determined to be the valve stem. I had loaded up the tire to take to the tire shop when I found your video. Method #3 worked for me and only took a few minutes to do. Saved me a trip to town and some money. Thanks a million.

Some good tips there ; I have used those valve tools all my long life and never appreciated all of their functions, (especially with tubeless). A while ago I had a tubeless trailer spare with a slow leak around the rim, rather than take it to the tyre shop I tried something I’d not done before. I broke the seal on both sides of the tyre, cleaned it up as best I could then applied a generous dose of black molasses to the the seal between the tyre and the rim. I then quickly inflated the tyre, washed of the excess molasses and did the water/detergent test, no leak and is still quite ok 6 months later. Davox.

Thank you, my man. I tried the easy option first. The stem wouldn't turn until i sprayed some penetrating oil on it, then gave it a couple revolutions, and leak solved! My son is very happy he doesn't have to fill it up at least once/week.

Brilliant - 3 cheers for guys like this and YouTube. This great video just saved Christmas after 2 (large national tyre companies) turned me away with a sticking valve causing the tyre to go flat overnight. Both depots said they couldn't take any bookings until middle of next week, despite having no vehicles in the bays and 2 fitters stood around chatting! I came home, watched this great guy, went to a local accessary shop, paid £6 for the tool and 4 valve cores, fitted inside of 5 minutes - and that includes moving the car, letting the remaining air out, fitting the new core as fix 2, then refilling to pressure. job done and problem solved. Merry Christmas Dave - you're the man!👍

Thank you for this informative video! I had an issue with a tiny leak from the valve stem on my motorcycle. I just had the tire replaced and the shop didn’t bother to check the stem. Fix # 3 did the trick. Thanks again for posting your vid.

Dude you’re a genius. I was having the exact same issue. Finally found it was the valve stem. So I went to the auto part store bought that exact same tool and did fix number 3 and it appears to have worked. I never would have figured that out. Thanks so much.

My goodness thank you so much for this video. A couple times watching this video, a $4.99 tool and about 30 seconds to slightly untighten and retighten my vale core and no more slow leak on my tire. I was concerned about doing it with the tire still on my car but it didn't seem to matter. Again, thank you!

Thank you. You helped me solve a leak out of a valve stem. Tire shops are too busy to get me in for 2 weeks with winter coming so this was a huge help!!!

Thank you! Tip #3 worked for mine! I lowered the pressure some to get the valve stem to spin better. Once I did, I aired it back up and no more leak!

Great and valuable info.
Methods 3 and 4 are often successful.
Tip: If you're going to get involved in this, investing in a good valve replacement tool kit, such as the Laser 5540, will make things much easier.
Holding and manipulating the valve is far superior, and you can push the valve far into the wheel and get good access to the hole without worrying about losing the valve inside the wheel. You also have the option of replacing the valve.
Compressed air is great for cleaning the hole and dislodging problematic stuff.
Silicone oil spray is also a great lubricant for this kind of work (but if you plan to use gasket sealant then don't use any lubricant).

I watched some other videos on this where they just change the whole valve, either by breaking the bead to get access to the back or even without, using a kit that pushes it in from the outside with lube.
But given valves are usually changed the same time as a new tyre it would be rare for them to have perished or ripped, imo. I have ordered the kit in any case but will try method 3 or 4 first as that may sort it.
I've found slow leaks on alloys typically to be poor seating of the tyre bead, again due to corrosion.
Useful video. Much appreciated.

Amazing! I had no idea there was a core tool or that you can replace valve cores. Or that they screw in and out! Extra cores and a core tool will be essential for me from now on. Thanks!
