Hey Folks! Welcome to Ostriv!

Want to see how to make a good start to this Banished-like upcoming medieval city builder with commentary? This Ostriv series is intended for use as an early walkthrough, an #Ostriv tutorial, as we explore Ostriv gameplay of this Early Release Indie game.

"Ostriv is a city-building game that puts you in a role of a governor of an 18th century town to challenge your creative skills and management abilities...Ostriv aims to raise the bar of city-building experience by adding a huge amount of possibilities and removing annoying limitations. It allows for truly organic town layouts without grid and angle restrictions on a three-dimensional landscape. The goal is to make player’s creations to become alive and believable communities where real-life problems would arise, thus making late game a new challenge rather than a repetitive chore.

"The current alpha contains 26 basic buildings, 3 maps, advanced farming with crop rotation and ploughing, organic dirt roads modeling, dynamically changing seasons, basic trading by land and some other things you would expect from a city-building game."

Oh man the reeds! I have considered restarting using my learnings from playing so far.. so I may be getting those reeds after all ;-)

- Nice music you added, suits the game better than what I use
- You have entered this "re-start" with a real sense of purpose and I like it
- Good to know you have learnt from me as I have from you

Looking forward to more!

With the arches, the yellow/orange is angled, like a trapezoid. If you had reversed that one arch by the forester, you could have put the house right up next to it.

Nice Video! I think I like this map better anyway - seems like more space to layout things?

Have you ever considered playing Cities Skylines?

When I saw your post of restarting in episode 8 I finished episode one and came to watch this episode. I am wondering, would putting the building, such as the forester and others, in one area then putting half of the houses on one side and the rest on the other work out? That way there wouldn't be a couple of houses further away. The center part of what would look somewhat crescent moon shape could have the market place, trading center or other where the people could go and sell and buy items.
It looks like it could be a fun game, will keep a eye on it.
