Watch live coverage and analysis from The Washington Post as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi signs a resolution to send the Senate two articles of impeachment against President Trump. The Post’s Libby Casey will be joined by reporters Aaron Blake, Robert Costa and Rhonda Colvin.

Transmitting the articles of impeachment to the Senate would allow the trial of President Trump to begin this week. At the center of the Democrats’ case is that Trump sought to withhold military assistance and an Oval Office meeting until Ukraine announced investigations into former vice president Joe Biden and his son.

I appreciate what McConnell said, but it's so difficult for me to believe him in his call for a dismissal of factionalism when he is the king of factionalism and weaponization of procedure within the Senate. He also said that he was not going to be an impartial juror, didn't he? I take his point well that the senators are not jurors like in the context of a trial in a courtroom, but I think people should hold him to a standard of impartiality as a leader in the country as he comes face to face with an important duty such as this one. I don't see how he can be taken seriously in this speech, is what I'm trying to say.
