Today we take a look at 2 cute little orchids that Ana Maria helped me acquire. Sadly they are not the happiest things :(
▼▼▼More info bellow!▼▼▼

So first I soaked the roots in water, this made things a lot easier when determining which roots were dead. It did not hydrate the orchids, the damage is too severe I think, it will take more time.

Then I applied my paraffin oil solution to get rod of the mites. They will be separated for a month or so and kept under observation. They were then potted in clay medium and from here it's up to them. The Pupukea I owned a loooong time ago, but the second mini orchid I have no idea what it is!

Hi Danny! I have been watching many videos about orchids and tips for better care. I really like your videos because you explain a lot and I am like you in many ways( I'm very small, live in tropical climate, I use red lava rock-not organic, and I also deal with spider mites, hate them 😝) thanks for being so helpful. You have great orchids💕🌸
I also experimented a lot with the spider mite problem . The soap, with my jot 90 degree fa. Burned them, is very hot and humid. I am currently using raid mosquito spray. This thing is great, even is a quemical, it works very good for me. I live in a 2nd floor and hace a big terrace, so I spray lightly before I close and go to bed. I know some try to stay of these type of things but I had a very bad problem and this helped In just a day. I sprayed lightly with distance of 12inches aprox. And next day I saw there where no webs and next few days the horrible apocalypse stopped.

I live in Denmark and the Nivea Bodyoil had a different formula. I had to think and went looking through stores. Finally, there it was, a lamp oil or for barbecue. It contained almost 100% paraffin oil. I tested the oil for a few months before releasing it to my friends, and I must say, it's working beautifully. I experimented a little with the mix and found, that 1% is sufficient, it does the trick and it works on trips and mealybugs as well. The people in my Facebook groups are rather excited about this, it's the best treatment yet against spidermites, trips and mealybugs, as long as we keep in mind, which orchid we're dealing with. I'd never treat a Dendrobium cuthbertsonii with the oil treatment, I wouldn't treat it with anything, being so finicky.
But we want to thank you a million times for this treatment, it's the best ever, if we remember to shake and not overdose.

The small one must be the Ionocidium Popcorn 'Haruri'. I love it, it has a spectacular color change as the blooms age! I ordered it once, but I recieved a mislabelled orchid, so I still don't have it, meh.
And the Pupukea...we all know the addiction, right? I can't wait for the fragrance you promised! :D

Hi Dani. My mini orchids have been attacked by spider mites like yours. Problem is, despite all that I have done, the leaves all withered. The roots are still alive though. Is there anyway to revive them and grow leaves?

I think the one on the left at the beginning could be a hybrid from Tolumnia and Comparettia, for example: Tolumnia pink panther x Comparettia speciosa

I'm curious; you soaked the roots, but what about submerging the entire plant for 24 hours or so? It helps with other plants.

Hi Dani (I apologize if I'm misspelling your name)
I'm really enjoying your videos. I received my first phalaenopsis orchid as a gift about 2 years ago, and have been able to keep it alive without issue (yay!). After watching your videos, I was able to build up the courage and add to my collection; a "Golden Red Star" Oncidium!.... which as I'm looking right now might be an Odontocidium Wildcat Golden Red Star / Colmanara / Oncostele Wildcat Golden Red Star; so I guess my new question is: what do I have? Are these intergenerics of the Oncidium? Does the name keep changing? They have pseudobulbs and similar leaves to the Oncidium... Also, the plant is exceptionally tall and there are a few bulbs, however the pot that it came in is quite small / opaque so I can't see the root system / see if the plant is thirsty (there's also a layer of moss on top of the soil). Should I repot now, or wait until it is finished blooming? Please help!
I'm sorry for the lengthy message, and for leaving it on an unrelated video; I'm new to commenting on videos!
Thank you for everything,
Nick

Gardeners have been making and using mixtures like this for decades, if not centuries. You didn't really "come up with" this.
