Popular New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu is determined to move the Republican Party away from Trump – but he is not running for president. Sununu’s announcement surprised political observers. In a conversation recorded just before the Trump indictment dropped, the governor joined Walter Isaacson to explain his rationale for not joining the race.

Got to give Walter credit. He tried to nail Sununu down about Trump, but Sununu would not bite. Despite trying to play the happy warrior looking to a future with a new and better Republican party, Sununu has his head in the sand. If not Trump due to the indictments, DeSantis is his mini-me and will continue the grievance and paranoia-based greed of new Republicanism. Sununu is still living in the past and longs for the old Reagan and Bush days. They are as gone as yesterday's news.
