This is honestly one of the rarest poker hands of all time, 3 bet and 4 bet bluff on the river is actually un heard of

terrific call, don’t think i was ever making that call myself

I wouldn’t have raised the river bet in the first place so I don’t know.

Raising turns your hand into a bluff but QT seems strong enough to call a tiny river better in a limped pot here. There’s other hands to bluff with surely. Blocking TT seems irrelevant since neither player should have that hand after preflop.

Big blind donks 1/5 pot representing 8 or bluffing with straight draws .
In river, SB can have Kx, Tx, or strong straight draws(like j9)(i think weak draws like gutshot is likely to bluff against donk bet) because he put his stacks twice in pot.

in this situation, BB might have 3 options.
1)100%(or more) size bet to polarize hand range
2)15%(or less) bet to induce re-raise
3)40~80% value bet

if BB has 8, he usullay uses option 1 and 3.
Big size bet(or value-bet) can make Kx or Tx to hero-call and also
SB seems to have value, so there seems to be no reason to tiny-betting if he has 8.

option 2 is to induce re-raise from bad hands, but just like what i said it before, SB is unlikely to have weak hands in river.
So, the second option is likely to not be used by 8x, and also really likely to be used by bad hands which is hoping to minimize his lose just called by Kx(Tx), or hoping bad cards folding.

Maybe not turn my perfectly fine bluff catcher on the river into a bluff

What a great ALL IN move since his hand is too weak for an hero call. He figure that he had more hands that contain an 8 than his rival and decided that his opponent would probably fold an K with such a move.

That's a hell of a call !!!! NUFF SAID

This is a silly exercise because raise on the river is never the right play. The result may have been optimal but if we're critiquing the play it was incorrect in regard to game theory imo.

Best move was to flat the 100 on the river. Sizing is super sus but you avoid getting into this sticky situation if he comes over the top

Wow a4o that was not on my radar! Insanely played hand by both players. They both look dumb and geniuses at the same time.

I’m folding with 3 bet to me with two pair and 8s on the board that’s an obvious set or bluff

Well, no pre-flop betting, so both players not likely to have a premium hand. Then Mulder's unlikely to have hit anything on the flop or else he'd 've bet instead of just checking....which means when the 8 arrives on the turn, O'Dwyer must be thinking his tens are still good. And the 5 on the river is a nothing card, coz even if Mulder has a 5 he's still losing. I'd like to think I'd 've sussed out the bluff like O'Dwyer did, but hey ho.

Well, there's a few things. Lot's of hands beat yours. Frankly, I woulda raised his turn bet and see what happens. I don't like that he just throws out a 100K chip, then does it again. The way his body language is is that he doesn't have it and is trying to push you off your 10's= b/c lots of stuff beats it. He DOES know you have middle pair. With what was bet and what's invested and the potential for winning= you call. If you lose, you're only going to be losing to trip 8's- I can't see him having anything other then that hand, if he does.
