This movie has so many similarities to Scarface, more than just the two actors. Al Pacino got out of jail in the beginning, he started working as a cook, he wore that red thing in his head like Tony Montana, he loves kids, and he even asks her “do you like kids?” like in Scarface. And Michelle’s character also can’t have kids just like Elvira. This is basically a happy alternate reality of Scarface where Tony and Elvie got to have a normal happy life.

the way he says "it's a potato" thinking Frankie is weirded out and embarrased and then she jumps in and says "it's a rose" has always felt so personal to me tbh, love this film

This film has ALWAYS been very special to me, my favourite film. I defy anyone to not be emotionally moved by it. Especially when in one scene she tells Johnny of how she was beaten. I have met so many women who have shared similar stories. And I was violently beaten countless times. This is the most emotional movie I know. Thanks for posting the lovely Clair de Lune scene. Two great actors make this Gritty love story work, intertwined with sharp comic wit, one of the best rarely shown .

"Everything I want is in this room." Wow. He has the SAME stare when he says "It's not personal Sonny, it's strictly business."

One of the very few movies that shows a realistic New York apartment for a person who doesn't make a lot of money.

I love in this movie that they really try to make Michelle Pfeiffer look downtrodden and homely. You can step on a rose, but a rose is still a rose.

Before watching the last 3/4 of this clip, I have this irrepressible urge to cote.
- What's safe to eat here?
- It's a rose. Grew up in the kitchen.
- Bring back fork.
Then:
- Everything I want is in this room.
- Why the hell you think I work those hours.
- Take the blue one, it's never been used.

Pfeiffer and Pacino's chemistry is beyond, just beyond.
To think that those two are the same actors as those in Scarface.
Incredible!
