USDA Wildlife Services in Maryland recently added scent-detector dogs to the array of tools it uses to assist partners in protection of the Chesapeake Bay region through eradication of the invasive rodent, the nutria. As nutria populations decline finding them in the landscape became more challenging but dogs trained to detect nutria scat are helping to confirm the presence or absence of nutria. The team is now cross-training the canines to address the challenge of invasive feral swine.

Hate to mention this. We hog dog hunters will do this service for free. We have dogs that can and will hunt hogs and catch them! Just place a bounty on the hogs and they have to come in with heads off. Don't do the ears or tails cut off because some people will cut that part off and release the hog. I would recommend $100 per hog. Y'all are not providing a good service if you have to have dogs that detect hog poop!

Dogs alone can't do this job, hogs will rip them up and eat them. Bounty these suckers and open a season on them, like they do with gators and deer. The way states are handling, or not handling the hog problem is almost criminal in it's stupidity. Hogs are very dangerous and ya'll are treating this like they're deer or something. You're gonna need four seasons a year, they reproduce that fast, plus they are not a native species. Get them before they start taking people, cos they WILL.
