Great Review! I was hoping they would use the new 1.9 liter motor in the SVHO models this year though. What is the deadrise on the hull? The Kawi still have the edge for rough ocean handling.

I want a ski in this class and I can’t decide over this or the Sea-Doos GTX300 or 325 (either I don’t care I’d by the 300 as a leftover / used

I bought two of these recently since I had two 2018 Yamaha FX SVHO which were light, stable (not wobbly when getting on and off the ski) had great acceleration and an overall dry ride. The 2024's have a different body style and they ride completely different. The tech is great, but you have to pay $200 for the garmin thumb drive to get the maps to work. This ski is also not as nimble - handling is not too great. The ski is also not too stable. You need to make sure you adjust your weight when getting on and off the ski otherwise your going in the water. It has more of the traits of the GP or VX in that regard. The nose of the ski is more downward, which gives a much wetter ride in rough water. After doing research, I found out Yamaha used a ride plate that is intended to slow down the ski and is causing the nose to point downward, hence the wetter than normal ride. I had seen that swapping it out with an aftermarket ride plate and sponses resolves the wet ride and improves handling, however, it sounds like that may void the warranty.

Hmmmm, top speed dropped a bit? My 2016 will do 74+ mph.

I cannot get past that cathedral seating in the FX units. The SVHO back seat will fit and it gets rid of the hideous seats the cruiser and limited comes with. It is just so out of place, it’s like showing up at the car show with your grandmas 20 yr old wood panel minivan.

Over complicated!! I just want to go fast and have fun on the water! Who needs a computer screen to look at? Who needs all the add ons?? Let me guess?? It costs 20k or more??…. Right?
Wow that’s like $500.00 a month for 7 years….Ew….where I live we can only run about 3 months a year. No thanks to all the extra garbage just to increase the price. It’s a play machine not something you have to have like a car. You’re going too far, keep it simple!!
