What Happened When I Ditched the Apple Watch Ultra...

In this video, I talk about my experience of switching back to the Series 7 stainless steel Apple Watch from the Apple Watch Ultra, highlighting the differences between the two models. I praise the Ultra's battery life, while noting that the stainless steel model's design and feel on the wrist are superior. The Ultra's larger screen and action button are discussed, but I admit to not finding much use for the latter. I am torn between which model to keep, and seek input from my audience in making a decision.

I like the outside screen brightness that I can see in bright sunlight on my daily 2 mile walk. The battery life is a secondary plus in that I don’t have to be concerned with battery life when I take it off to charge it each evening. I also appreciate the slightly larger screen. I ordered the Ultra with the Trail Loop because of its infinite adjustment ability. I wore it the day I picked it up at the Apple Store and changed it to a third-party sport type loop of silicone that sweat won’t harm and breathes better than the material of the Trail Loop. If I cared about ‘dressing it up, ’ I’d buy the titanium metal watch band but, at 77 and long retired, I don’t care what you think when I wear it. That and I’ve never had anyone in all my years of military service or working in the private sector tell me that I needed to go home and change watches because the dress watch I was wearing or the sport dive watch I had on was wrong for the occasion.

I came from the Apple Watch SE 2 and the Ultra 2 is amazing. The battery life, rugged design and the watch faces made me fall in love with it.

I believe they both have a place in a rotation. I have both, the resell price of the steel series 7 is very low so I just wear it when I wanna look stylish. Ultra is a good work watch. If apple could somehow improve the battery on a smaller sized Apple Watch I’d sell the ultra In a heartbeat

I had the exact same thing and that is why I ditched the ultra. In the end, the ultra is not necessarily too big but more too thick.
You feel that ultra with every single move, and I even bumped into things, I never bumped before

Yes, arguably, you could state that the ultra is the better watch, but when wearing it becomes cumbersome, then the choice is easy. And also I cannot handle having two watches at the same time, choices, choices choices.

Do you really need a brighter screen? Did you ever have trouble reading the series 7?
Do you really need the battery life when you just charge it like you do your phone.
The screen isn't really much bigger in the action button is still ugly orange.

In short, I switched back to the series 7, stainless steel and enjoying it very much.

In the meantime, I am waiting for the next iteration of the Apple Watch, and hopefully that one will have the same screen real estate and half the thickness.

I feel like it depends on your body size, I'm 6 foot 190 pounds and the Ultra looks great on my wrists and my stainless looks a bit small - but I 100% agree, the stainless justs looks so crisp

Agree on the weight tried sleeping with it but can't. Action button i use it maybe 2 times a week when i run, its definately a great looking watch not many people own them but too expensive and not useful enough.

If you thought this switch was awesome, try switching to the Garmin Fenix 7 Sapphire. It does somuch more and looks better than either of these.I like the Ultra but I'm into functionality and the battery lasts a month.

I can’t go back to the series watch after wearing the Ultra for months. You can still dress up the Ultra also with matching bands.

Sell the Ultra, keep the S7. That stainless steel looks so much better, IMO.

I’d have a real hard time going back but I can’t deny the look of the regular Apple Watches. They are really good looking

I returned the Ultra. To thick, bulky and heavy for me. I'm constantly aware theres a Watch on my wrist. I never had that with the S5. Any advice on purchasing the S8 or wait for the S9 with possibly a better batterylife?

I agree. I wanted the Ultra for awhile but looking at it and trying it on, I think I just like the design of the S7/S8 better. I have a stainless steel S7 and I actually just scored an amazing deal on a $200 Space Black titanium series 7! I’m really in love with the S7’s slimmer design and this titanium is fantastic and it’s the last Edition Watch

I think the Ultra looks way better but decided it was too big. I did however upgrade to the 8 45mm from the 1 38mm after trying the Ultra for a week!

Apple Watch series 7or 8 is more normalised and the standout effect is meh… I just think one looks like a regular Apple geek and people who aren’t into Apple do not notice the details we see of what finish it is. They just see an Apple Watch and a geek. But with the ultra, it’s a statement watch still. It’s fashionable, bold and makes people curious. Its masculine and it’s battery life and brightness makes it worth it.

Me who uses 2 watches everyday yh I do upgrade every year but the awu I wear all day every day this best watch Apple made it’s always on my arm only time it’s off recharge and shower once full back on 😎
