I have an advice for you, those USB stick fan sometimes were designed poorly. They have massive voltage spikes or back EMF. It might shorten the life span of the USB hub.
Obviously you don't have a oscilloscope to test it. You can just disassemble the motor and check if there's a capacitor. If there's isn't, add one, problem solved. Watch out, some capacitor are polarized and connecting them the opposite way will make it explode.

What's your hash rate with this? I set up my 2 year old laptop with Nicehash to run when I'm not using it pool mining, so I'm not hardcore mining; just going for a little bit to watch as the market changes as a "eeh could be cool"

Though ~$400 (actually more at this point) for something that "could be cool" to add to my laptop for a few extra cents a day is a wee bit steep LOL
