Loved it! I was growing up then and this brought back the more pleasant easy going atmosphere of that time.

This is from the year I was born and KMPC was my parent's favorite station. They always had it on in the car. I remember it well when I was a little older. Then, around '64 or '65, my sisters and I took over the radio to hear The Beatles and all the other rock and pop records on 93 KHJ. I think it was sometime in the '90s that I rediscovered it, playing the same stuff I remembered. By then, I was old enough to appreciate it. Then they gave up the music for an all talk format. That was a sad day. I'm glad to have discovered this. It takes me back. It reminds me of my childhood and my parents who are gone now.

One other station I wish I could hear from back then was KBIG-AM 740, which had a similar format. They had a jingle sung by the Four Freshmen….”KBIG, Catalina! 26 Miles across the sea!” Although it could have been the Preps or even Hi-Los. It was one of them.

Born in 1950. I knew Ira Cook went way back w/ 'PC but didn't know THIS far back! One day, Ira Cook wasn't around anymore. But he was an institution. Didn't know he was an actor & singer. KMPC truly WAS "The station of the stars!" They're all gone now. Makes me cry! Never again will we hear talent of this caliber under one roof! This aircheck from the "Old Spaghetti Factory" studios. I've been there, saw everything. I loved it, just loved being there. And meeting all my heroes!

My mom used to listen to Dick Whittinghill on KMPC. In 1961 when I was 10, I used to hear Franksa Notra, or so I thought...

"Polly Bergen's newest on Columbia", Come Prima, came out October 6, 1958. This is not a 1954 broadcast. Thanks, though, still great to hear!
