Explore the Process of Purchasing a Tow Truck

A tow truck business owner tells us about finding a vendor and financing for purchasing a tow truck. He looks at the comfort in the cab, bins for tools and equipment used when doing recovery. He explains that the newer medium duty tow trucks have better hydraulic system technology and provide more comfort for drivers.

So buying a tow-truck, the process usually starts with you find the provider that it's gonna provide the tow
truck for you. Which is gonna to be the vendor. And then you usually try to get your financing set up, with either them
or another finance company or lending companies. And you let them battle over what's gonna give you the best interest
rate, or how it's going to be structured to be set up for your tax time. And so you know it takes probably a good month
to find another vehicle and lease it.

So about approximately every 10 years is when we order vehicles. Is it difficult to find a new vehicle? Not necessarily
there's, a lot of providers there that have different truck... you know, places that do it. And you've got Chevron
West, you've got West Coast towing equipment. There's all kinds of different places back east, you've got all purpose
wreckers back east, great company.

So basically it would be the comfort of the inside of the vehicle, the bins that you would have
which are on the side of the vehicle. They're gonna have your tools in there, so your bins can be set up for your hand
tools, your chains your recovery chains, your strap, anything to use for on the recovery end of a truck.

On flatbeds we have boards, we have ramps, we have skis. There are all kinds of different stuff
that comes with those vehicles, and you equip them so you can be on you know the rotation lists. And help the
customers that have street rods, lowered cars, anything like that.

Well, we're actually looking to get a newer medium-duty. And the reason we're getting that is because the technology has
gotten better on hydraulic systems, and it makes it easier on the drivers. And when you get out on scene it's easier to
pull, plus they've also added spades to the back which holds the truck in position we were doing extreme
recoveries. They've got more bucket seats in them so they're more comfortable. They've got your lumbar and stuff back
support and stuff like that so it makes it really nice on the newer trucks. They've kind of thought about the drivers now and
that way it's not so hard on the drivers backs. And so those are the types of things I like about that.
