For that price, you could get an authentic Musashi Gold.

1000 bucks for 1095 steel? No thank you. You could get a katana made of the same steel for around $300.

I bought the same katana for $120 at the local Japanese market😊

Honestly, a well made high grade nihonto is cooler than any fantasy blade.

Looks veerrry very nice. However, the 1095 does tend to oxidize just by looking at it, as I have a katana made of 1095.

Perhaps in the future you might find a steel that is more corrosion resistant? It would only be logical to produce a blade that's somewhat corrosion resistant when it's made to bathe in the blood of your enemies

*Cool now recreate the most iconic, Jetsteam Samuel's Murasama from Metal Gear Rising Revengeance with the trigger activated sheath, otherwise you are just denying your weapon it's purpose, make it you won't.*

It’s actually nice to see you guys making a habaki that *ACTUALLY HOLDS THE SWORD IN THE SAYA.* Bravo for that.

You should be able to hold the sword in its sheath BY the saya, then turn the sword completely over until the kashira points toward the deck, and the sword should hold fast inside the saya, against gravity. Because the habaki should swell out enough to mechanically wedge the sword into place as it sits snugly in the koiguchi (the opening of the saya.)

The "shark skin" in the handle is often actually stingray skin. Also, the Japanese paper that goes into the pattern is not new, but often used paper that someone used to practice kanji. The reason is that they hoped that the ink on the paper would have an insect repellent effect!

The curvature of the sword also changes considerably depending on the era in which it was made! For example, the shape called "suguha" was born in the peaceful Edo period to emphasize the appearance! Japanese Katana have a lot of history, so I want you to know a lot!

Looks like what a Starbucks barista would use in a sword fight😂

But it doesn’t have differential hardening. Katanas should really be treated like certain Liquors. If it isn’t made the traditional way and isn’t made from Tamahagene, it shouldn’t be allowed to be called a Katana

I love how old swords, are (Unless we are talking about unique ones that were made for royalty.) they were made from what was the cheapest material that most of the regular soldiers could afford. And now we are trying to make them more expensive or now the blade made from the same materials is way more expensive for a regular person.

An authentic sword in Japan starts at 2k, but in the us that’s crazy considering it’s not authentic

I give that sword 1-2 strikes before it snaps completely in half
