7 Things I Learned Hands On With Godox AD100 Pro Mini Flash

In 7 Things I Learned Hands On With Godox AD100 Pro, I go over all the finer points that I picked up using this mini flash for various photography sessions. I used it at a wedding, for headshots, during a product session, editorial portrait sessions, and a creative shoot. The Godox AD100 Pro will be sold as the Flashpoint Xplor 100 Pro at Adorama. I feel all of my assessments made in my initial review hold true, that this light will be great as a hair light or accent light in any kit, but will function as a versatile lighting tool indoors, and is not a great choice as a key light in large modifiers in bright conditions.

I’m gonna hold out for the ad150pro with the swappable heads. (Doesn’t exist afaik but I know the week after I purchase this something cooler will come out)

Thank you, this confirms I will not be buying this. With what I have in my current kit, this would be a waste of money for me. As always, I appreciate your honest reviews, they are always very helpful to me.

"It does go all the way in" it's just shorter.

That's what she said.

Honestly given the current price, AD200pro makes more sense. And the bare bulb separate battery cable is a big bonus

Rob, get yourself a GorillaPod for hanging the AD100/200 in trees or getting them low to the ground. Incredibly useful for putting small lights in odd places.

I honestly do not see the point of this light. The AD200 is almost the same price, better portability, ability to use in a TwinHead and 1 extra stop.

why would I use this light instead of a AD200?

Great review on this light. I've been using it for about 8 months for my aquarium photography and it's awesome. The downside is the colour shift which you've addressed how to fix in your other video. Keep up the great work

I do not think this is for those big setups where you take a lot of gear, softboxes etc. But for simple setups on the go portraits this could be a light weight portable solution. I am getting one too. I do not even plan to use it with softboxes but with the Godox AK-11 modifier kit. In a more professional set up these can be used as hair light or side lights I guess. Since they are small they will not take much space.

Great find, I'm also using the ad100 pro over head on a plastic boom arm, which is both convinient and easy to do which isn't possible with normal flash heads or you could but then you need a counterweight where else this thing is so small and light it wont even tip over.

Two AD200’s, one AD400pro and one AD600pro is my killer strobe kit. Don’t see a need for anything else. My Rotolight Aeos is killer too for overhead or clamshell set up’s.

Rob.. I'd love to see a comparison vs speed light (V1 or 860, etc) in the same scenarios. *Does the AD100 provide the additional power that would be more beneficial than a speed light,

I've had the Godox AD 100 Pro for quite a while. Works fine, but I've been trying to shut down the "pop"sound when the flash goes off, but with no results. I've shut the audible sound through
the menu, but the pop sound, keeps bugging me. If you're shooting pictures inside a church. the sound is very annoying. Any suggestion gladly welcome. Thank You.

Did the light work in the softbox? Did it do what you needed? Yes- then why would you need to go to a 300? No - then why AREN'T you using a 200 or 300?
The battery thing, really that bothered by the aesthetics? It's a tool not an accessory

I shoot a lot of food and drinks inside bars and restaurants. I usually just shoot near window light and bounce some natural light back at the product. But Im thinking of trying a small light. The AD100 seems to be ok for this, I was thinking of leaning one of those fold out reflectors with white/transparent material against the table and shooting through that.

I'm not sure if a AD200 would be better tho.

Now that I've used my AD200s just with the round light accessory kits, I really see the value of these over the 200s. I may pick these up instead of any further 200s, especially if they hit the sale table come November. Thanks for your videos on all these lights and modifiers!

Its 100w. Not much more than a V1. Confused as to why you were thinking it would be powerful enough to overpower the sun ?
