It's no surprise that the best-selling compact truck in America is designed and built in America, for Americans. The surprise is that it's not a Dodge, Chevy, or a Ford. It's the Toyota Tacoma.

The BEST pickup ever built!  My four banger 2wd 2004 Tacoma is now at 452, 000 miles with only minor repairs over the years.

These trucks are getting more and more expensive tho. Just a few years ago, u could find a used 1st gen taco for no more than 3000. Now average prices are around 5000 for one with 500, 000 miles

The Ford Ranger was the best selling truck in America at this time. Woth that in mind, these older Toyota Tacos were awesome. I love the 3.4L V6 in these trucks, they sound great and haul like nobody's buisness. The Ranger and its 4.0L V6 is awesome, too.

I love my 1995 tacoma, no abs, no ac, power locks or doors, just a simple 2.7l with 5spd manual and a rear locking differential. prefect mud truck.

Luckily, I found a 2001 Double Cab in perfect condition with only 56, 000 miles on it. This was in January of 2017.

I got lucky last year and bought a pristine 2003 3.4 Tacoma fully loaded with 110, 000 miles. I searched for about a year and a half to find one this nice in my area. If you're looking for one, just do your homework and be patient. There were many times that I'd test drive one from a dealership and when I pulled back in, there would be numerous people waiting to take it for a spin. Sometimes they'd just buy it on the spot before driving it cause they were worried that someone would make an offer. You will pay a premium for a nice one, and most dealerships will barely budge on price, but it's well worth it once you have one.

I have a 2004 Reg cab, automatic 4spd, 2.4 liter 4 cylinder with 129k miles on it and love it. The 2.4 4 cylinder is the only Tacoma that never needs a timing belt change because it is the only model that has a timing chain and not a plastic belt so try get a 2.4 engine if ya can find one. I took it to Hendricks Toyota in Charlotte to get the belt changed and that's when they told me this 2.4 liter never needs changing or maintenance but all other Tacoma engines do and said I was lucky to have it and sent me on my way.

We feel fairly confident saying a 10 - 12 year old Toyota pickup is worth considering even if you're not made of money. However, Toyota trucks do hold their value quite well.

The NHTSA requires electronic stability control in all passenger vehicles built from 2012 on, but it was relatively new and not that common in the mid to late '90s. It might not be must-have feature for most buyers, but it sure comes in handy when you need it. ;-)

They are massively over priced in Washington state too. The ads actually say "only 150k miles". They have almost no features but I like them, wish they were priced near bluebook. Stability control? How's that a popular option?

gots me a 2001 tacoma double cab limited trd 4wd with the 3.4L and i love it! although i am considering that new trd pro tacoma that will be coming out in the pretty much the only down side to the 2001-2004 double cab tacoma is they only come in automatic, you want a manual you get an extended cab, no ifs ands or buts.
