My high school golf coach used to make us play practice rounds twice a week with one club and a putter. This was back in the mid '80s. It helped my game immensely by making myself manufacture shots. I was wicked good with my mid-irons by senior year.

8 iron is actually a solid club to get. In reality a one club hole is tough, because you either get something with distance, that can't chip for shit, or you get something too lofty to hit long, but can then throw it close. Tin Cup picked 7 iron for a reason lads. Middle ground gets it done.

I putt with my glove on, purely because I can't be bothered to take it off and also my grip doesn't have any more grip on it, it's all torn and removed
