Lights were switched off around the world at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday evening for the 10th annual Earth Hour. Some 7,000 cities across 172 countries and regions took part in the event to highlight the need to act on climate change, with some of the world's best known buildings - including the world's tallest skyscraper, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the Big Ben in London, and the Eiffel Tower in Paris - going dark for an hour.
