Did some research to learn more. The operator of the larger boat was 75 years old, was charged, plead not guilty, and died before trial. The victims sued his estate.

This was on the Columbia river. The large boat operator, ( I just can't force myself to call him Captain) was kicked back talking on the phone and couldn't see them because of his high bow. A situation made worse by improper speed and trim. Luckily he only injured the men fishing and destroyed their vessel. If they had not jumped when they did it would have resulted in fatal injuries.

Absolutely negligence on the part of the other boat. They're liable for everything which doesn't bring somebody back if they're DEAD. I'm glad everybody made it out okay, but sometimes that is not the case sadly.

I'll never forget an episode of unsolved mysteries where a boat launched over another boat in the night and they hadn't found who did it. Horrific, so very scary.

All that water and the driver of the larger boat just had to run OVER the smaller boat at a high rate of speed towards the shore. They definitely should sue for wreckless endangerment!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬

All the wide open area of water and this boat can't miss hitting the smaller boat. Amazing! It's almost as if they were heading for the smaller boat, on purpose.

I know they should’ve been wearing their life jackets but have you ever been on a boat with a life jacket for 6 hours. It kinda ruins the fun and you never really expect to get hit by a boat. Yes, take the necessary precautions, but responsibility lies with the boat that hit them.
