Yep, Here in Scotland my heating bill has tripled since last winter and our food bills have increased by a huge amount and living in one of the coldest parts of the U.K I need heat. I have now got to the point I avoid watching the news or listening to it as otherwise I would get so depressed.

Things were bad here in the UK and they are only getting worse unfortunately.

We have had an incompetent government that’s been in power for 12 years, but during the pandemic they descended into outright corruption ( before it had been slightly masked corruption). The disaster that is Brexit keeps on giving and it’s been compounded by the effects of Covid and the War in Ukraine. Our bills especially food and power rise every month, I generally go without heating during the day as I work from home and I know my partner likes to have a bath and use the heating in the evening when she comes back from the hospital.

We’ve had 5 prime minsters since the Brexit vote, which was previously unheard of in the UK during the last century. Our last chancellor and prime minister attempted to commit economic suicide on live television and pension funds almost collapsed due to their complete incompetence. I phoned my mortgage broker within half an hour of the budget to remortgage ASAP at the cost of several thousand in penalty fees I’m glad I did as the rate we booked in had saved us 1000s over the next five years and we would have been in dire straits otherwise. I think there are major strikes planned almost every week in the run up to Christmas and our dear leader mr oligarch is currently attempting to ram anti strike legislation through parliament ( we already have anti protest legislation in place).

The UK is in a pretty dark place at the moment and I have lost faith in England and the English people ( as a political collective I know lots of lovely English people), as they will no doubt vote in the conservatives again, because of reasons …..?

I’m lucky I have a semi okay job and we live in a cheap area of the UK without children. But for people with families this is going to be one hell of a winter.

It was very tough to see an amplified version of what I am currently going through. He has my respect and well wishes and it warms my heart that other young studly influencers would signal boost. Thanks Steve

Yep, it's really tough at the moment here in the UK. Although now temperatures are in the negatives, its either eating or heating. I think it's starting to hit all of us here. Keep ur fingers crossed & prayers for all of us here in the UK, as it certainly feels as if the Government don't care about us at the bottom of the barrel.

Thank you for sharing this. Too many people are going through the same thing. I feel very fortunate that I am in a situation where I can give something, but I know what it is like to not be and will never forget that.

This is the reality or most countries in the world, people do not have money... Even now, UK people do not know what poverty is compared with other countries. In my country the situation described is normal, and sometimes you just have to mix flour with water in order to make bread because there is nothing else to eat. And then people from rich countries like UK, Germany and France come to my country for holidays, buy houses, do not care about learning the local language, and basically treat us like a colony. I am sorry to speak like this, I do like KDBooks, I am subscribed to him, but in my country this is just normal, and this is what happens in most countries in the world. UK and US are among the richest countries in the world.

Just to give some perspective (I'm not a Tory supporter, by the way, but in the interests of balance) the government gave everyone £400 towards the costs of their energy bills this winter, and they also capped those energy bills, which were likely to skyrocket beyond many people's ability to pay. Added to that, this is the first significant cold snap we have had in the UK so far (it's been freakishly mild and people wouldn't really have needed the heating at this point anyway), so things could have been a lot worse.

Yep. Britain is screwed for the next...well...while. My rent has gone up £250 in the last six months. It'll probably go up again in the New Year. It's edging close to being unaffordable but luckily for me I only have myself to look after, which makes it much less stressful. It's going to be tough for a lot of us. And, of course, the people that are in charge of the country are ideologically opposed to helping (and making terrible decisions that make things worse.)

He's not the only one. I don't, in fact, know anyone who isn't seriously suffering right now. Inflation has meant the doubling and in some cases the tripling of prices, and they continue to rise, meaning one's income goes half as far as it used to. I live in constant fear of my rent being raised. We've had recessions and periods of economic volatility before, but this is the worst I can remember in my lifetime.

Don't worry, it was on the news just the other day that Bezo's $500 million super yacht is finished. Help is on its way!

The UK is slowly coming to grips with the consequences of inflation + Brexit… it’s not going to be pretty for the next year or so. Agree re Novara Media - a very good example of why ideology has no place in journalism.

Still tough here in the UK Steve. Its not getting easier at all and unfortunately it's as if the government just don't get it or just don't care. I've stopped buying books now can no longer afford to as that's now a luxury. Went on a no spend year from Jan 1st just needs not wants. Both of us have professional jobs so reasonably paid but every month on month £100 more on bills. Yeah it's crap here.

I am in the UK and yes it is bad. I think we could do without Royals squabbling and maybe being more understanding too

Sorry Steve, Novara media hasn’t defended Russia at all, you’re just wrong.
