Quick Power Meter Calibration on Garmin EDGE // Swift Garmin Tip!

The Garmin EDGE quick-access control menu offers a faster way to calibrate than accessing the calibration option from within the power sensor properties. this video covers how to quickly access the power meter 'Calibration' option on Garmin EDGE GPS Cycling Computers (technically a 'zero-offset') and also on the Wahoo ELEMNT Bolt v2.

Great tip and advice. I'd always thought calibration was just a set and forget sort of thing and had never factored for inside/outside temp variations. I've learnt something new! Thanks much appreciated

Thanks Shane. Can you do a cool little clip like this on the live segments and how to get my "previous" and "recent best" to consistently appear. I have seen them twice in 4 years!

Hey Shane, thanks, excellent tip! Question: how do you get 6 datafields right under your map om the garmin edge 840?

You can also enable the auto-calibration prompt. With that I usually just give the pedals a few turns to wake up the sensor, take my bike outside and the calibration prompt should be visible by the time I'm ready to go.

Nice tip Shane.

I have Quark DUB power meter which I presume is BB-based or crank based. I’m not sure. I thought they auto zero-offset therefore not require calibration. Every time my 1040 asks to calibrate, it always returns a value of -30 to -40. How do I get it to 0?

I just bought my Garmin pedals . Did a test ride and calibrated before the ride .
Power values are unusually high. Higher than my perceived effort if I compare it with my values on a tacx

Hi Shane, I liked this video! I cannot find the Calibrate Shortcut in my Control's window on my Edge 1030. How do I set this feature up? Thanks for your help. Two

Is the "Power Meter Calibration" setting visible only when a power meter is connected? I just tested this on my 830 in my office (not connected to bike sensors), and it doesn't show this setting. It has "Set Bike Alarm", "Find a Course", "Find a Workout", and a "Popularity Map" toggle. Perhaps this widget doesn't exist on the older Edges.

Isn't it ok to calibrate your pm as soon as you get to your bike, before taking it outside, exposing it to a different temperature? Shouldn't the temperature compensation then do it's thing?

is this just as good as using the power meter app to calibrate? (In my case with Assiomas)

Hey mate, have you ever heard of the Garmin 840 reading low power. My old Wahoo element showing same power on my kickr and assioma pedals.... 840 showing 20-30w less.... they are the Unos. Doing my head in.

Sorry this has nothing to do with this post. But zwift workouts. Isn’t there a setting to smooth out workouts for the ride report after ? I recall a setting. Can you remind me what that is ?ie. Perfect red as opposed to slight fluctuations and the lap looking red and yellow - thanks !

question. what does the number mean that you get after calibration. mine was 544. not sure what that actually means though. there was no noticeable difference following the calibration.

Do I need to do this with my 2010 powertap hub?

Do I have to put the cranks in a 6 and 12 position (4iiii precision 3 powermeter) before doing this?

Any ideas how to stop rain changing the screen on my Edge 1040 Solar mate? It’s driving me round the bend.

With my 1030 I shows +- a number over or under 0. Should I be waiting for 0? I always assumed it showed me the amount off from last calibration vs what it was going to set he new calibration to
