Below are some written pointers:
1. Keep in mind the rule of 3 (small - medium - large) when defining importance on a character
2. Separate your character into parts so you can later rig it in Maya
3. Design your character according to your game needs and potentially the Lore (fantasy or real life).
4. ITERATE, you'll be trashing many designs, as you saw me trash the goomba and penis looking thing, in the video.
No design is perfect on first pass, I've spent hours on some character designs so take your time and try to understand what you're trying to convey with your characters,
