I just realized that Lilo & Stitch is basically Disney’s family friendly remake of Critters.  Think about it.  A rambunctious and foul mouthed alien (in Critters case, multiple) escapes a space prison in a ship and crash lands on Earth in a semi-remote part of the world (Hawaii vs small town in mid-America) and the alien(s) are being pursued by bounty hunters who wear disguises to try and capture the escaped felon alien(s) before they cause too much destruction.

Great B movie comedy/horror franchise from the 80's. If you like that sort of thing; get the first two Critters movies and set up for a Friday night marathon :)

The movie turns 35 today!
I remember getting the dvd at FYE. Dee Wallace was really popular horror actress in the 80s. There's even a winking joke to E. T. in this next to other pop culture references.
This was the start of the little creature craze of the 80s that started with Gremlins. Director Joe Dante did call the movie a blessing in disguise rip-off or not.
Such a fun movie with lots of doses of humor. Short and breezy. Doesn't take itself too seriously.
I'm amazed a young billy zane is in it.
I think James Gunn's Slither took inspiration from this.
These creature designs are freaky but also kinda cute. It's actually very funny how they swear whilst eating everything in sight. They were made by the same guy who worked on Killer Klowns from Outer Space.
I just love how the bounty hunters shoot up everything and aren't phased since they're only hunting these things.
The Power of the Night song is catchy.
Scott Grimes as the child Brad leaves a good impression.
It earned back its $3 million budget.
As always the first movie is a great romp but the rest of the sequels are abhorrent.
But they did make a 6th movie 2 years ago, got 44% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Plus I just learned they're making an animated prequel series on HBO Max.
Interesting too how this movie was also referenced in the 90s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Overall a respectably stupid movie but fun and dumb. Glad it has enough of an identity to stand out.

I knew Terrence Mann from Cats videos on VH-1. Then this little masterpiece came out and I just loved it. I haven't seen it many times, but it had such a great balance of fear and humor and sci-fi that I've never forgotten it. Or the 2 sequels I saw. Classic movies!

Its not really a B movie !!! Its much much more and a very good classic movie of the 80s. In this are very good acting and an amazing story telling. More of this today ...would be great.
