Ryobi HP VS Standard Battery

Today we are comparing the performance of the Ryobi 3 AH HP battery verse their standard performance battery on a brushed motor. The significance of this is that the HP battery, is known to provide a boost of power to ryobi brushless motors, but not the brushed motors. According to my tests, the HP battery gave the drill a small boost in performance.

Would love a comparison for equivalent ah batteries-- the 3ah vs 1.5ah already is known to make a difference, so would be nice to see how an HP vs non-HP of equivalent ah. While they might not draw extra power they maybe perform better under load? Not sure expect much difference but would be good to confirm :). That said, the difference you see here seems about what folks see from just 1.5ah vs 3ah of same battery type, I think.

I spotted an error with your click wrench test method. You put the ryobi at a disadvatage by placing it in the vice in front of the handle. You need to use the wrench in the blue color handle part for the leverage to use the click wrench correctly. That being said, the comparison still works well.

For the complete picture you need to also test both types of batteries in the HP tools, too.

If you’re going to compare a standard and hp battery could you make them the same size???

Of course using 3ah will offer more power it's a larger battery. You need to test out the same ah capacity for a true apples to apples.

If you wnat to test HP battery, you need a brushless tool! Cheap out is a bad idea to test tools!
