Sure you may consider the rule but consider where you live. If cars get stolen offten and or broken into if you live in apartments like i do, comprehensive becomes kinda of an important factor.

In other words .. if your vehicle is worth under $6000 ...and you can stand a $6000 loss.. then forgo the collision & comp... so.. with 95% of Americans admittedly unable to afford an unexpected $450 bill...I'd say keep the coverage till your vehicle is worth about $2500 or less.. a recent deer collision with my 2nd vehicle, a 2013 Acura w/o air bag deployment. .. book value $8500.. was estimated @ $3000 .00 but with my $1000 deductible. the vehicle is still not fully repaired because I did not have $1000.00 to put toward the deductible with my preferred "Grand Protect" insurance premiums @ $300 & change a month
Last Friday I ran over a road hazard in my leased vehicle.. the tire was wasted.. NOT covered by any insurance and cost me $325 to replace.. that can happen anytime.. buy road hazard with your tires if you can get it.. there was a guy crying a $1000 over a cracked wheel and damaged tire while I was there.. pot hole .. no insurance for that either.

Compressive with zero deductable is good if your car is older and paid off but still of value

Is this 10% rule based off of a 6 or 12 month policy?

If you have no comp/collision and you are hit by an uninsured driver are you still covered? The number of people driving illegally without ANY insurance is mind blowing
