Minnesota school districts changing phone rules

Many Minnesota school districts are changing or adding new cell phone rules after a new state law. FOX 9's Maury Glover has the story.

I am 72. We never had cells in my day and we survived. I say ban cells during school hours period. You are at school for learning. You have dozens of trained experts all around you all day long. There is no emergency that they cannot handle better than a child on a cell. Cells have no business during school hours. I fully support the ban.

Our right, our right, that is all these kids think about. The mothers do not seem to understand that kids miss part of lessons because they are using their cell phones. Oh that's right not my kids!
As far as the mother who commented about taking away their child's right, where in the Constitution does it guarantee the right to have a cell phone.
Really, our kids have fallen so far behind in the world of education. I am concerned that they will be in for a rude awakening when they have to compete for a job.

Would it be okay to give a kid under 21 alcohol? No way, because their body and brain are still developing, and we can't mess that up. It could cause some serious damage that can't be undone. The same goes for the cell. There are tons of cool things on your phone, but also lots of harmful stuff. Since your attention span is still developing, you might not be able to protect yourself from it.

Good lord. I was a student in the 80s and 90s and we didn't have phones and we managed.

They need to be banned so our tax dollars are actually well spent. Kids don't focus on learning when they're distracted. Period! Great Law.

I had a cell phone in middle school and it’s really distracting from other lessons to have it so I always had it on silent mode and it just disrespectful to be on your phone when someone is talking about the assignments that you are going to be doing? And teachings you important information that’s we all need to know. I see kids all the time being disrespectful brats to teachers and officers etc if my parents saw me like that to authority figure there’d be no phone and I’d be grounded or probably have my butt spanked. There’s perfectly good phones in the school office and in every classroom and if you have to get a important message to your children the office is always able to contact the teacher to tell them so during school kids need phones put in their lockers and they can call and do planning afterwards when their lessons are done.

Can you do what you did when you were that age and you use the freaking phone at the office or you use the phone in the classroom when the teacher says it's okay

School districts putting more shackles on kids who are already going through a difficult time in their lives. Forget what you had when you were in school however many years ago; this is their world, this is where things stand now. Deal with it and move forward.
