Her album is going to be very eclectic she’s chosen a Pop radio smash to start off with which is smart I think she’ll release a ballad next which is what everyone wants from her but I’m glad she went with her head because people are enjoying it

I like the song I think she made a smart move choosing the perfect radio friendly/summery song and she also said that in the album she experimented different sounds and genres. Furthermore, a few months ago she held a listening party with some journalists and they listened to 6 songs, including the debut, and they were really excited and wrote really positive things. I remember one of them saying that the songs were so good that the debut wasn’t even in their top 3

Ok I have to get this off my chest I've held it in since the song came out, and I don't want to be disrespectful or mean, since I love perrie and all of little mix, been rooting for them since halloween week back on xfactor 2011. What I like about the song is perries voice and the instrumentals. The rest I'm getting slightly second hand embarrassment from! The lyrics, the concept, and I blame ed sheeran for that, just wish perrie chose differently. Why does it feel like an apology for shout out to my ex? It's like an apology to be accepted into US market :s and like you said, why would you reminisce about a past (v public) relationship when you're in a very happy one? It would make more sense to think of it as about a past friendship (jesy) actually. That would've been so sweet despite everything that happened. But the lyrics don't reflect that it's clearly a past relationship. If that's after she changed the lyrics to better suit where she is right now then what was the original 😭 anyways, hopefully she'll take off with the second single like Adele did with someone like you, I can feel it.

I love perrie's voice but I'm not keen on the song, it's very pop country could be sung by Kelly Clarkson or Taylor swift, I feel it's more directed towards American listeners

Im here completely blind and ignorant to the artist, her past, etc. So to me this is a new artist I’ve never heard of before. Im also not the targeted demographic. Having said all that, I will be honest.

I wanted to tune away after the first 30 seconds.

I only kept watching for you Ash, that’s it. But there was absolutely nothing about the song that made me want to hear it.

As you mentioned, it sounded country with some pop. The vocals didn’t scream at me, her voice didn’t stand out and simply sounded like any other pop singer. Even when the song got going, it was flat, repetitive and very generic. It was a very very safe song even for pop standards. Nothing about it stands out, the hook is ok, but the production and singing makes it forgettable.

I don’t know anything about her, but if she’s already has an established career, I would demote the person in charge of selecting this song and the producer behind it. It shows lack of confidence on the artist. It also shows lack of control by the artist. Give her something more to work with, instead of this lame safe song.

As you mentioned, let her voice shine!

Who is the targeted audience? Not to be insulting to anyone, but is it soccer moms? Cause teens sure ain’t gonna listen to it. Even then, soccer moms are in their late 30s early 40s, this may be kinda lame for them as well. Cause as you mentioned, this ain’t pop rock! It ain’t country enough to be country either. I don’t get it.

But perhaps I wasn’t supposed to.
