All I kept hearing throughout this discussion was the urgency with which President Holland said in April Conference, "I bear witness that when Christ comes, He needs to recognize us—not as nominal members listed on a faded baptismal record but as thoroughly committed, faithfully believing, covenant-keeping disciples. This is an urgent matter for all of us, lest we ever hear with devastating regret: “I never knew you, ” or, as Joseph Smith translated that phrase, “[You] never knew me.”

If the animals were considered family, then it puts a whole new perspective on the story of the prodigal son that I had never considered before. The father sacrifices one of the "family" when he orders an animal be prepared for the feast to welcome home his son. Like Heavenly Father sacrificed his son so that we can return home like the prodigal son.

In the April 2015 Conference then Elder Nelson has taught us:
How do we hallow the Sabbath day? In my much younger years, I studied the work of others who had compiled lists of things to do and things not to do on the Sabbath. It wasn’t until later that I learned from the scriptures that my conduct and my attitude on the Sabbath constituted a sign between me and my Heavenly Father.12 With that understanding, I no longer needed lists of dos and don’ts. When I had to make a decision whether or not an activity was appropriate for the Sabbath, I simply asked myself, “What sign do I want to give to God?” That question made my choices about the Sabbath day crystal clear.

What sign do we want to give God? If that is our constant motivation, not just on Sunday's but every day.

This episode and topic was soooo refreshing! I can’t tell you how often I face palm every time we, as members, try to weasel our way out of the concept of salvation by grace. We try sooo hard to try to fit in with mainstream Christians that we throw Nephi and Joseph Smith under the bus because of 2 Nephi 25:23. Andrea clearly teaches that the 5 foolish virgins werent worthy because they DIDN’T PUT IN THE EFFORT. This is truth.

Some where I heard that when a person entered in to the wedding feast, they were also given special clothes that they may be known to be in the feast. If someone tried to get in to the feast by climbing over the wall, or trying to enter in by some other way than the strait gate, they would immediately recognized that they didn't belong there and would be thrown out.

I see this as an intimate relationship with Christ, the bridegroom. Do we truly trust Him, no matter what? Do we commune with Him every day, sometimes all day? Do we want to please Him and doubt not; fear not? I have so far to go!

Love how you brought out it is about obtaining the gift of charity which is more than just giving things to others - having a change of heart, a view that helps us see Heavenly Father and the Saviour in others - transform through Christ's atonement into a new creature.

In the book, Return From Tomorrow, a man dies and meets Christ and then is sent back. He’s not happy about having to come back to this earth, but then he meets people in various places and he can see in their eyes, the same love that he saw in the Savior’s eyes. I think that’s what it means when it says that we have received his image in our countenance. When others look at us, they see the love of Christ in our eyes.

This brings to mind something I once read in one of Brandon Sanderson's books. Brandon—who, for those who don't know, is a devout member of the church—implied that perhaps the two things religion is most used for are:
1. Telling other people that their beliefs are inferior.
2. Believers cursing on the names of their gods and holy figures.

And I think that's the primary thing that will prevent many Christians from truly knowing Jesus. Anyone who claims to believe in Christ but who can't think of anything better to do with their religion other than swear or mock and belittle others is a false Christian and cannot hope to match up to those who actually try to better themselves and help the poor and the downtrodden.
