I purchased the transmission from an authorized Jasper dealer summer of 2017 in Yorktown, VA. The original transmission was slipping in reverse after 87k miles. I paid 5800 for Jasper replacement. This transmission was an upgrade to the standard. The authorized dealer completely flushed the cooler and replaced all the transmission lines because the original lines did not connect to new transmission. The transmission seem to do fine. The transmission failed at 89k while towing a 5000 lb trailer with the Dodge 2500 diesel. The transmission blew a seal and all the fluid was pumped out unknown while traveling at highway speed. The noise was the clue that something was very wrong. Pulled into a Food Lion parking lot and then noticed my trailer was covered in transmission fluid. I contacted Jasper.

I was told they would reimburse 70 / hr labor rate, which would not cover the Dodge dealer ship labor rate. I was 6 hours from home with a two-year-old Airstream covered in transmission fluid. Jasper hinted the failure was probably due to a bad cooler or plugged ATX lines. The reasoning was unacceptable considering the work was performed by authorized Jasper installer who told me they flushed the cooler and replaced all ATX lines. The original receipt had the new lines and the cooler flush annotated. Jasper could not give me a time to repair and told me the old ATX one had to be shipped back before they could honor the repairs. With my wife in tears, I elected to trade in a nice truck to purchase a new.

The way Jasper handles the warranty left me sick to my stomach and out $5800 for a 6-7 month old Jasper re-manufactured transmission with less than 2000 miles. The transmission should have never leaked fluid the way it did assuming all seals were replaced with new. I suspect the replacement parts used were not of original quality, which lead to the premature failure. At a minimum Jasper should honor some type of refund. The warranty could of been handled differently. They essentially leave you hanging and provide you with no information on how long it will take or what action you need to do to restore vehicle operation. We were left stranded. After spending 5800 dollars on this very bad deal I could not in good conscious spend more money on hotel, restaurants, and higher cost for dodge to perform the work. Jasper provided no information on how long it would take to ship and receive a replacement transmission.

I bought a rebuilt 300- 6 cylinder for my 1981 F-100. It was a great engine! The price was right and they came and got my core at my home. The engine was still running great. When I donated it to a good cause. It has 60, 000 miles on it with no troubles. Still wish I had it. Shawn

Hi Raised in San Bernardino and wish I had seen your interview before I let them put a Jasper junk engine in my motor home. I am on my 4th engine from Jasper. First one lasted just over 100 miles when it through a balance shaft through the valve cover. Next one was so bad we didn't even put it in, Third just failed at 3200 miles. Metal all through the engine and will have to put a 4th in, Just getting the runaround at Jasper but I am $24, 000 into a $60, 00 motor but couldn
't sell it the way it letting you know if you can, tell anyone you can, not buy a Jasper engine. It is a long story but I'll keep this

I had a Jasper transmission put in my 2005 Ford E-250 van with 5.4 liter engine back in 2011. I still run this vehicle which has about 730, 000 miles on the original engine and about 280, 000 on the Jasper tranny. The only issue I had was during the original warranty period and needed a bit of work on a sensor. Otherwise, the tranny is still working fine. Most of my miles were over-the road, but I would recommend this company based on my experiences.

I love how he talked about book time. Book time is a recommendation only. Book doesn't know the condition of vehicle, of shop, or the technition's ability. I never work for boom time. But I use the book to reference only. Then I decide on my own time. Which is based on my experience, and vehicle condition.

Jasper pays for these videos. The fact is they cut every corner possible. We got a Ford 4.6 from Jasper, they spray painted the inside of valve covers, right over sludge. That was the last straw after several failures. Get a factory replacement, or have a quality machine shop rebuild yours. The wait time from machine shop is better than dealing with warranty process on junk that WILL fail.

I've heard more bad things about jasper than good. The vehicle I have now has a jasper transmission, which is the 2nd one because the 1st jasper trans went out before 10k miles. Hoping this 2nd one last longer than that, it has about 8k on it now, we'll see.

I agree 100% with you about book time..book time doesn't mention rust. And up north vehicle's..so a 1.5 hrs job can turn into 8 hrs.

When you spend this much money on marketing and begging shops to praise your product, that tells me all I need to know.
Build a damn good quality product and you will never have to beg installers to promote it. The work will speak for itself.

I'm about to put a Jasper reman transmission on my '11 Silverado 1500 RWD.
Any words or advice? It'll cost me $4, 324 OTD. Less than what everyone here says but its probably becauase it is only RWD.
My checklist for the mechanic installing it so far are:

Make sure the seals are replaced with OEM quality and make sure warranty is completed by the mechanic shop I worked with.

They used to be good but it seems like after 2015 that the quality of their remanufactured products started slipping and mechanics in my area started refusing any Jasper installs or warranty work because of the sudden high failure rate of their products and Jasper was all of a sudden finding ways to deny claims even when it was evident that the failure was on their end. One mechanic compared them to that Car Shield warranty company, said he put a sign up saying he will not do any warranty work on Jasper Products.

Dad is a Jasper dealer and no problems with their warranty yet. They send a replacement at no charge.Had this with two 5.7 hemi engines with the MDS in a 2008 and covered both of them. One had bad brand new Chrysler lifters from the factory. The other, they overtorqued the rocker arm assembly bolts. The factory remans, they are outsourced done by an outside machine shop with zero upgrades done.Jasper does the upgrades fixing the factory flaws.Have rebuilt a GM reman 4L80E before, went bad.GM puts the faulty parts back in their remans.

the problem is there seems to be no quality control, test the motor and dyno them, alot of these companies claim they do but they do not, I by passed Jasper and Fraiser because of this and just bought a Powertrain Products motor and had it installed 2 days ago, I may note that I had the mechanic replace everything outside the motor name it it was replaced, well its ticking and we realized it seems to be a valve guide, you may say well thats not so bad but with the warranty only paying $50 per hour to replace any internal parts your getting screwed, I would have paid alot more money for the engine if it was dynoed and checked for any issues, but thats a lie because something like that should have been caught before leaving the factory
