Hello from Finland! I'm curious about this old style of building, but I was wondering what You use in between the logs, behind the two layers of chinking? Living in the north, insulation is of importance in building. Traditionally, here in the nordic countries, the logs were always scribed and joined together. Historically, a thin layer of moss was put between the logs before driving them together tightly. Wooden dowels would then be driven into drilled holes from above, helping to keep the logs in place.

Thank you Mr. Bradley for another great video! Cement has always seemed like a very basic material - after all it's been around for a couple thousand years but I never knew anything about it. Lime certainly seems like an amazing discovery. It seems as if it was a basic factor for the advancement of civilization. And it's so versatile. It's amazing that it hasn't been added to women's face creams.

Cement is simply too harsh for wood when wood stretches, other issue is that it holds too much water and dries at different rate than wood

so I'm wrong... In my own history of taking down logs and ownership of 1700 - 1800's log homes, ...many old logs that had (updated) covered front porches of poured cement had a rotted out the entire sill log. Cement should not go against wood, it creates a moisture/acidic problem. I would think, the moisture intake of limes (hehe) would create the additional freeze thaw and bust issue. Shorting it's lifespan.

As for those who say you talk a lot; you sure do. And when I started watching your series, at first it bothered me. Generally speaking it is a bad sign in a youtube video; of someone that likes hearing himself talk more than putting in the work to make his content accessible.

However, having watched many of your videos now, ive gained the confidence that you tend to keep saying interesting things all the way through, and I think your pacing and level of detail is pretty spot on as far as I am concerned. Keep doing what your doing!

I will be starting a log cabin in the Ozarks very soon on our land.  We have a lot of lime stone and sand stone as well as some slate on the property.  I want to make two chimneys (one on each end of the house) and you had stated you were going to do some videos on rock splitting and masonry.   I'm looking for ward to those.  Will you be addressing the stone foundation work and how to set those stones?
