For the last 10 years i have been incorporating organic matter/crop residue high in Lignin and Cellulose together with a diverse microbial solution and then i plant the next day maize with zero chemical inputs to get satisfactory yields. From germination the plants show zero deficiencies. No need for any fungicides or pesticides. Weeds become stunted and eventually acts as a natural soil cover
