Hardcore History is dope asf.. well worth the money for the old episodes. My fav is Ep 42, Logical Insanity, about dropping the Atomic bombs but in reality it was basically 3 hours of how we slowly slid into carpet bombing cities.

Edit: grammar

And back then they had to do it by hand. They didn’t have guns at Cetera. That’s disturbing

I’ve listened to Dan Carlin’s assassination attempt on the arch duke Ferdinand, and all of the bumbling that went along with it, only for his car to turn down the wrong street 5 hour’s later, and one of the guy’s go outside eating a sandwich while smoking a cigarette pulls out his pistol and shoots him and his wife, leading to some of the most heinous war crimes in modern history, and over 100’s of million’s of death’s over a 30 year period. All by one 19 year old.

The most chilling part of Wrath of the Khans for me was the part where the Persian (I believe) Emissary is traveling through this mountain pass near India (I believe) with an escort battalion. The trail they walked on started to get progressively worse in terms of traverse-ability because the trail got more and more marshy as they approached this mountain peak. When they got closer they realized the mountain peak wasn’t a peak made of earth, but made of human bodies. They described tens of thousands of dead bodies piled on top of each other. Civilians and soldiers. Noblemen and peasants. Men and women. Old and young. The trail was marshy because of the decay of the bodies running off the mountain. They were walking in human slush. Blood, decayed skin and organs, bones… Dan simply describing it made me feel like I stumbled on it myself. Really horrifying. Makes me seriously not like Genghis Khan even though he lived over a millennia ago.

EDIT: Joe described what I wrote as a comment. Shoulda just watched it 😂. But yeah, still horrible.

As great as the JRE podcast is, there's no podcasts like hardcore History. Blueprint for armageddon may be the best podcast series released on any topic ever. Dan Carlin was in the podcast game when Bush was President, he's one of the OGs, Think most long time fans of rogan are already aware of hardcore history, but if not you have to check it out.

Been a big fan of Dan carlin. Wrath of khans is his best. For me it's his enthusiasm that makes it fun.

your army would show up to defend your lands and the horse masters
with thousands and thousands and thousands of riders would form a moving collum of riders in circles around your entire army.
so you're standing there in the eye of a mongol hurricane waiting for them to form up and attack you, then the arrows start.
you don't know which way to run
you don't know which way to throw your shield
you eventually become covered in dead bodies of your fellow countrymen, buried alive.
and that was how the mongols would wipe out entire armies without getting off their horses.

horse -. masters.
