Tcp PointCloud Editor | CAD Connection 💻

A very useful feature of PointCloudEditor is its communication with CAD, either deferred or in real-time, allowing for bidirectional information sharing between both platforms, which is ideal for reviewing, completing, or updating plans, maps, etc.

The first step is to connect with the previously opened CAD, enabling the communication port, which activates the synchronization, transfer, and view buttons.

With the “Transfer” button, it is possible to send entities from PointCloudEditor to CAD, organized by layers, selecting only those you wish to send. Once transferred, switch to CAD to check them in the active drawing. Here, any required modifications can be made and then sent back to PointCloudEditor. For this purpose, at the top of CAD, there is the PCE-Plugin menu created with the installation of PointCloudEditor, which allows transferring the layers in this reverse direction.

Returning to our application, the new “Pool” layer is verified.

Now both platforms are displayed on the same screen, in case there are not two monitors available. To demonstrate how to update the zoom in CAD with respect to PointCloudEditor, or vice versa, press the “View” button.

Finally, the “Synchronize” button is activated to see how any modifications made in CAD or PointCloudEditor are updated in real-time simultaneously on both platforms. For example, when outlining polylines, deleting, editing vertices, etc.
