Cold fronts and severe weather

As cold fronts move into an area with warm moist air the front can cause thunderstorms and severe weather. A cold front is caused when a large mass of cold air moves into an area. Cold air is denser than warm air so causes the warm air to move upward. As this warm air moves upward the air begins to cool and creates precipitation.
These thunderstorms can be spectacular and the good news is that once the cold front passes you have sunny, nice weather.
