These are stories that need to be told to everyone because I don't think the American people realize how fortunate they are to have had these people behind us backing us up and finding this war for us. And what I mean us the American people

"Fix Bayonets" words you never want to hear. Everything has gone wrong.

I like how he speaks with compassion but also realism. He knows it's crazy to talk to a 17 year old kid like that, he's just being realistic. War is War. It does not care. You need to be a menace to live.

Banzai charges, You run out of 8 rounds quite quickly and if someone's charging you with a sword, bayonet comes handy.

Don 'the real deal' Graves. Look @ the cold blue eyes of that warrior. A treasure of the nation.

The bayonet training at basic was the most surreal thing for me. Marksmanship, grenades and claymores all felt like a technical class. But fixed bayonets, stabbing the training dummies was visceral.

This man was just one of millions in his generation who left home at an early age and put their lives on the line not only for their country but for the entire planet. They saved the entire earth from extinction. That are the the biggest hero’s of all time

I have unending respect for men like this and men like my father. I always regretted that my father took out my enlistment letter from the mailbox because he thought I would get killed because I what's too thick-headed. But now I think of my simple anxieties from a simple world and wonder how I ever would have dealt with the real anxieties of war.

My father was ROTC Penn state for journalism when WWII broke out. They were taken and trained for weeks, he was a young lieutenant. When they shipped off to the Poe Valley of Italy on the first day of fighting 1/4 of the new battalion was killed including his closest buddy the medic. With in the next week another 1/4 was killed. Those who survived the first ten days had a much better chance of survivng that deployment and the rest. He told me of how angry he was decades later at the war college and their understanding this as the loses of battle and fine with those numbers. He served 25 years, mostly because he kept getting recalled to service for Korea and Vietnam.

This is why America won the war. Those sergeants put reality right in their face.
The Japanese were vicious, and there was no place for being soft.

Thank you for your service.

My dad served in the golf war my great uncle served in Vietnam my great grandfather served in WW2 and my cousin whom I was very close to and was more like a brother to me unfortunately was killed in that botched withdrawal in Afghanistan I have much respect for those that served even if I believe the recent wars were nothing but corporate profiting schemes I know our service members acted in good faith even if our politicians didn't thank you for your service
