hi Naz! I’m a ballet dancer! Please don’t do it just because of the coquette aesthetic. It’s not all butterflies and whatnot. It actually takes skill and practice. Do it because you want to actually learn not because of the aesthetic. DO NOT GO STRAIGHT ON PONTE IF NOT TRAINED! I’ve been doing RAD ballet for 6 years now were you do exams, and I still don’t have point shoes. I’m hoping to get them soon at the end of Grade 5 but even I’m not sure. But ballet again isn’t about the outfits and everything it gets harder and harder trust me.❤

i did ballet for 7ish years and my feet are blistered!!! so if you do ballet, pls make sure you use ALL of the protection provided for your feet and warm up+stretch really well! (edit: i saw someone commenting abt people doing ballet cuz its coquette, and theyre so right. naz, if ur doing ballet cuz of the aesthetics, please dont.)

Hey Naz!! As a ballerina myself, it definitely isn’t too late for you to begin, but for the best experience for someone starting later, I would recommend taking privates from dance teachers where you get 1 on 1 attention. It’ll be good when learning the basics and it’ll help you improve more quickly. You’ve got this Nazzy!!! I’ll Be here to support you all the way!!!

Notice how Naz at 5:54 got her cousin (who is 12) a “kids” present tho she is basically 12 and would never get something like that and gets makeup n clothes herself :/

Just to let you know if you ever do end up taking ballet classes in Bondi the studio will most likely have a dress code, meaning a black leo, pink tights, and pink flats so don’t invest too much into comfy/cute dance wear before you know what your studio will allow!

naz’ family should be supportive of her wanting to do ballet, like who cares if she starts late? be supportive and stop saying “your starting too late”

"aboresk?" "piworay?" Love how hard they tried, it's arabesque and pirouette <3

Ive done ballet 12 years now and i think everyones stage makup is different depending on where they go, and i also HATE it when people do it just for the "aesthetics" but if your genuinely intrested go for it but ad your starting late you will need to work very hard as ballet is all about hard work but also make sure you enjoy it

Personally as a dancer who does ballet, I just wear whatever keeps me warm and comfortable in ballet. When I do shows or performances, I wear only a little bit of makeup like some mascara or none at all. In my opinion, don’t try to wear all the “ballet kit” because it won’t keep you comfortable and warm especially because you are only doing it as a hobby and not professionally. My final tip is if you go to ballet lessons, don’t compare yourself to other people and you can never start too late because I started a few years ago and already made a lot of progress.
Btw I love you guys and I hope that you have fun whilst doing ballet because that is the main point x

Hey Naz! I’ve been doing ballet for about 10 years. Rn I’m doing pointe and it’s very fun but it’s also very hard. You get a lot of blisters and it takes a lot of practice to get to that level and to get comfortable on pointe. Also please make sure to use all the protective for your feet. If it is pointe use toe pads and if your pointe shoe fitter recommends toe gels use them. I also recommend lambs wool, it adds extra cushion. I also recommend using toe tap, this helps with blisters and use it where you need extra cushion. Also a tip is don’t do heavy makeup when you just have a normal ballet class because you sweat a lot. Also since you were wondering what performance makeup we do, I’ll tell you what I do. I don’t know if everyone does this but I use concealer sometimes foundation, blush, eyeshadow (brown, black, white, and sparkly tan) sometimes I do eyeliner, and lastly I use red lipstick. Also don’t do ballet because of the aesthetic. You have to be very committed and you work very hard. For me I have dance 5 out of the 7 days in a week. Sometimes more if I have rehearsal. This isn’t the same for every studio, but my studio is very ballet focused. Meaning our teachers are strict and we have to be very committed to it. But good luck with trying ballet! 🩰

As a dancer of more than 10 years who has done a ton of ballet, please do NOT rush to pointe! Not that you would but you need to gain strength and have technique before. If your really into dance and ballet I recommend going to classes, usually you will have a recital at the end of the year ( at least in America ) and that just shows all of your skills basically in a dance! Also usually in ballet you have to wear a black leotard and pinkish tights, this could be different where you live though! Definitely don’t be too hard on yourself though, tons of people start out late. It’s completely normal, and don’t let you being older than most people at your level get you down! Im open to answering any questions if you have any, or if just anyone has any!!

As a ballet dancer in Sydney, I can proudly say that it wasn't to bad as your first go and Naz, you and your family should really consider applying you to ballet class and it is truely rewarding and fun!

I have done ballet for 11 years:
I suggest consistent stretching for short periods of time to increase flexibility, and definitely strength training. It’s often overlooked, but it’s really important, especially core training. I would suggest a 2 minute plank along with your stretching routine.
Naz, if you really want do pointe, it will take atleast a few years to reach the correct strength, but you can definitely achieve this if you work hard! You should do ankle strengthening exercises on YouTube, and foot flexibility. Both are key to become strong enough for pointe.
You can definitely start off self taught, but if you are looking towards pointe I would recommend joining a ballet class.
For performances we wear heavy makeup! 🤪
You definitely do not have to do it competitively! You mentioned lots of girls do ballet, but this doesn’t matter. Ballet isn’t just about competition, it also develops lots of discipline and structure. It is a great way to relieve stress and I have found it great for physical and mental health. You can definitely start at any age! Good luck, I really hope you continue this journey ❤

I think naz and sabre should learn the rules of netball and try play as it is a very good form of exercise and is really fun!!
