Testing Out PCBWay's 3D Printing Service (FDM)

In this video we are testing out PCBWay's new 3D printing service. If you have models you would like printed and you either do not a 3D printer or you want it printed in a material you can't print then PCBWay can do the printing for you. They even offer surface finishing including electroplating. Turn around time a only a couple days longer than their PCB service and the prices are quite reasonable.

HEY YOU ABOUT TO POST SOMETHING STUPID:
One of the symptoms is that is causes fluid retention, mostly in the hands, feet/ankles, and face.
It will kill me one day. I'm doing ok right now, but someday...

For reference, I’m pretty sure Nylon normally shrinks about 1.5% when it cools.

Thanks for showing this off. Can't see myself having a 3D printer, mainly for space reasons...so nice to see you can get quality 3D prints @ PCBWay for reasonable price and shipping time.

About circles and FDM printers, I think a lot of it ends up being about the way that STL files are created and interpolation. When you make a circle, it's really a many sided polygon so you'll always get a slightly smaller circle than you anticipate when working with stl files. There is also the dragging effect on the filament being extruded in a circle which pulls it in as well.

Anyhow, I just hoped to explain why I think the circles for 3d prints always tend to be smaller than when you have straight lines and edges for instance.

Perhaps the sizes were off when the file was made. Only way to tell would be to create your own CAD file.
The printers are amazing though.
Thanks for the review Paul.

Just a tip: The three columns that extend into the z axis can be measured with your callipers by using the bottom part of your callipers for measuring depth (the thin metal/plastic part the extends out of the base of the callipers when you extend them)

Not sure if anyone note this already, but it was probably sinter printed with nylon powder instead of the traditional layer printed FDM (like PLA, ABS, PETG..etc.) That's the only way I can see the overhangs coming out that nice. Still really good quality.

Fantastic, I've tried metal laser cutting service and it came out very good

Fascinating video and well done for being an early service tester. I hope you have an opportunity to try out some of their metal 3D print services as the price for these are insanely expensive and I know many are intrigued by the level of modelling detail possible in such work. Keep up the great work 😀👍

Remember when 100k subs was a milestone? Now you've got 18k more. Just noticed. Bang up job, sir!

Nice option, but they've got a 50MB size limit and some STL files are much larger than that even for relatively simple items. STL file sizes sometimes vary widely even for similarly-sized parts and it's not always obvious why this is the case if neither part is overly complex.

that print is to test your own printer or a new filament. and it looks like its had post print services. i use that file from thingiverse.com to test new filaments. some dont cool quick so you use this to decide where you'll need supports

Are You sure your caliper is 100% correct, as the measurements were off by the same amount on everything...
and also, measure thicknes with the wide part of the two arms on the caliper, not the thin sharp edges as they tend to cut into whatever you'rr measuring.
It also ensures that you measure it at 90 deg, and not at an angle.
The print looks nice. To bad you can't use it for anything.

Nice video. But you said they did it in Nylon which is not FDM.

Благодарю, вы могли бы заказать готовую модель с покраской, к примеру корпус какого то устройства, что бы можно было оценить насколько хорошо получается готовое изделие с учётом последующей обработки наждачной бумагой и покраской.

These measurements were a bit off for my liking. I would be concerned with having parts made that need to fit together. If you were needing 100 items made where tolerances weren’t super critical, this could be valuable though. For hobbyists use, spend the $150 for an Ender 3 is my advice.

Do you use AutoCAD, Turbo or something else to do the design?

thank you for a great news. It is hard to buy a good 3d printer.
