Tannoy VX12 & VX12HP - RCF NX 12SMA - Atomic CLR - Monitor Shootout

This started as various footage for a review on the Luxxtone El Machete 22 guitar and the various speaker cabs I'm also reviewing. Everything is recorded 'live' in the room with my Zoom Q3HD (which has built in compression for loud signals) only. No post processing. I ended up stringing all the different speakers into one video for reference's sake.

All recorded with one preset, levels equaled from each speaker relative to each other before recording.

First impressions, headphones (HD280pro) via Macbook:
Matrix GT: Noticeable low end, natural on ears, hi-gain grates my ears a tad.
Tannoy VX: Much clearer, cleaner than Matrix. Hi gain sounds natural, good on ears.
RCF NX: Darker, less bright for sure.
Atomic CLR: Brighter and clearer than others, even Tannoy.

My Initial listening likes in order: Atomic, RCF, Tannoy, Matrix

Do brighter gig better? Which one would you take on a gig this weekend and why?

This is a VERY different beast than the Reactor series was. These can hang with the heaviest hitters.

Ahh. Well the monitors in order then. I'm leaning Atomic. They must have a backlog though after NAMM.

how do the atomics hang with a drummer for practice? I used the atomic reactor and felt that I had to be positioned at the exact right point and it tended to flub out right as it got to drummer level.

That's why I am essentially thinking of just getting a carvin dcm and giong straight into one of my guitar cabs

The Matrix is the power amp pushing the Tannoy's; there are no Matrix speakers involved.

I'd use any on the gig - I've been favoring the Atomic CLR.
