Kobe actually was the ONLY person who treated MJ the way he wanted to be treated: a true competitor who was still worth competing against at the highest level. The ultimate send off from warrior to warrior.

Kobe gave us an extension of Jordan when he retired. They both are truly irreplaceable.

After seeing MJs emotional speech at Kobes memorial, you see this match-up completely in a different light . We know their respect for each other was immense!

10:27 I truly believe this is what Jordan wanted all along. He wasn't happy with the direction of the NBA so he came back. Kobe beating him is actually the best way to send him off. He can rest assured that the NBA is in good hands, truly staying competitive going forward. He did the same thing to Bird, Magic, and Thomas. He calls it "passing the torch". Not really a Jordan fan, but I like this aspect of his persona. Made me smile. 🙂

That alpha spirit in kobe 😂😂😂 Jordan probably was extremely proud that kobe didn’t miss the free throws on purpose

Imagine the battles Mike and Kobe would've had if they both hit their primes at the same time. That shit would be PPV worthy.

Kobe Bryant will always be my GOAT because he was my era. I grew up watching his career blossom & I was raised by my parents & relatives to be a die-hard Lakers fan. Kobe was just 1 year younger than me yet I looked up to him so much. He was the only non-family member/non-personal friend that I ever shed tears for. I wish he & Gigi were still here. His untimely death has solidified himself as a true legend of all sports. RIP Kobe & Gigi. We miss you ✌🏾💜💛🐍

I almost forgot what playing defense in the ASG looked like until I saw this. Rarely happens anymore.

Wait...the fact that Isiah Thomas was Jordan's coach in the All Star game is amazing in itself 😆

Man that's why we loved Kobe. Reminds me of how he did Gasol in the Olympics

Kobe didn't ruin the game at all, and he squeezed it like a lemon... I admit that this match is top3 allstar game ever for me and thank you Kobe for that!!! He's exactly like Jordan said he could have hit three shots with ease. He was throwing for 3 because he wanted to win... Jordan and Kobe are different mentalities... This match was their duel. Jordan passed the baton and Kobe showed respect by missing one free throw to give the aging basketball god a chance. I will also add that Vinc's act letting MJ into the top five and Marion's amazing defense at this throw made this match an icon of the All-Star Game, the icing on the cake, a determinant of fun and competition in one... What would I give to make the All-Star Game look like this every year... Imagine the matches... that goes head to head Kobe vs MJ as in this match ... Steph Curry vs. Ray Allen... Duncan vs Jokic... LeBron vs Giannis... Old and new generation and similarity of style... It gives this game so much love and fierceness among the people of the world. What an amazing sport...

Kobe didn't ruin MJ's perfect ending, it was Jermaine O'Neal doing an unnecessary foul at the end.

Kobe made 2 of 3 FTs to send it to 2OT. I truly believe he wanted to knock down a 3 and win the game, but when he got fouled, he didn’t want to win on FTs because of the moment. Even tho Kobe would never throw a real game, I believe he purposely missed 1 FT to send it to another OT just so he could continue matching up with Jordan.

KG had 37 points on 71 percent shooting this game, 2003 all star game is what it’s about just a bunch of stars going crazy.

See, I look at this video and laugh at Kobe.
"Nah he gotta earn it!"
That's what Mike has told Kobe his entire career up to that point every time they matched up. Mike said "earn it". Kobe gave him the treatment. That is respect. That's the respect that Jordan loves, the Passion of the game, the win is what matters. The challenge is what matters.
