NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams will spend the upcoming U.S. presidential election in an extraordinary location: 200 miles above Earth on the International Space Station (ISS). Initially scheduled to return home in June 2024 after the first crewed test flight of Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft, their mission has been extended until early 2025 due to safety concerns with the capsule. As a result, both astronauts will exercise their right to vote absentee from low-Earth orbit.
