MakerPi K5 Plus 3D Printer Review

preview_player
Показать описание
The K5 Plus from MakerPi is a fully enclosed 3D Printer with a futuristic design - but how does it print? Watch to find out!

NOTE The printer DID actually come with filament, I mistook it for a box from another machine, small roll of white PLA. Apologies.

Great review Angus.

I really enjoy that your reviews genuinely come across as being totally unbiased.

Many makers on YouTube are being sponsored directly and I always wonder just how biased their reviews are going to be.

Yours come across very genuine and informative.
Not just "It's rubbish." You explain why and how to make it better."

Thanks

The silent stepper controllers might be more pricey; and since its the x and y motors that are most active during a print they prioritised making those silent over the z to increase their mark up

hi there... just wanted to thank you for what you do... i bought a cr10s about 3 months back.... excellent start point, but without your videos it would of looked like the hooney 6 a pile of metal.

Really appreciate that you are honest and willing to say the stuff you do. And *really* appreciate your view on safety. I honestly would have been a lot more harsh about the laser engraving, but I'm really glad you gave them some shit about it because that is seriously, seriously not cool.

Angus I currently own that printer for a decent price enclosed 3d printer and I would love the cura 4.0 profile since the version they gave out was a modded old cura.

You could use a DDNS and port forwarding to make that WIFI camera work anywhere over the internet, but I do camera networking for living. Great Review!

Looks like its well on the way to being a great machine for the price. Enclosed build, 32 bit, removable plate, changeable heads, runout, powerloss. Hmm lots of bang for your buck!

Tip,
Issues with printing PLA after using high temp materials..

Load Nylon at the same temps as the prior material printed at, let it purge for about 1-2min
Unload the Nylon at your PLA print temp

Secondary option

Load Polymaker Polylite or PolyMax PLA (there is some other brands you can use but they are hit and miss) at the print temp of your higher print temp material (yes it can handle the 230C+ temps)
Purge for about 1-2min and let the hotend cool back down (Important step!) and unload at normal PLA temps.

I'd buy a Prusa Mk3 over that any day. I'll spend the extra $80 and build a kickass enclosure and then have an amazing printer that can also do ABS with zero issue.

Excellent Review As usual! You briefly mentioned Octoprint, I recently started using Octoprint on two Ender 3s and I love it. I designed a raspberry pi 3 case that clips to the ender 3 rails, as well as a camera mount for web streaming. I especially appreciate the real time gcode view.
Would you please consider doing a video on setting up octoprint?
