Steam Canning!!! A better & safer way to preserve your waterbath canning recipes with a steam canner

Steam canning is still one of the lesser known methods of safe canning (preservation of food in jars).

My steam canner is one of my favourite pieces of canning equipment and in this video I explain why it is such a great alternative to waterbath canning.

I have been using it since 2019 after research became available that this was a safe canning method. Looking forward to sharing why it is now my go to canning method for high acid foods.

They look fantastic for when you just don't have extra water to spare when you're off grid too. This is a great intro to them. I don't have one but think they'd be a great canner for anyone. Thank you for sharing lovely 💚

A great addition for any canner to have, I bought one years ago.😉

For a detailed look at how to use a steam canner, look out for my upcoming video where I make a delicious Strawberry Icecream and Yogurt Topping.
I have a bit of editing to do, to get it ready for you, but it will land soon (30th Dec scheduled).

Also... It looks like Victorio canners are now going by the name 'Roots and Branches'. No affiliation... but here is a link to help if you are looking into them.

Great video and explanation of how you can use the steam canner. I nearly bought one a couple of years ago, but got a small pressure canner instead so that I could do everything, but I still love the idea of one of these! Have a wonderful day xx Cathi xx 😘

G'day.
Well done on featuring the canner. I am aware of them, but I have not looked into them and this was a great introduction.
Good stuff!

All the best.
Daz.

It’s funny what different people prefer.. if I moved into a house that had a glass or induction stove top, it would be the first thing I get rid of! I dislike any stove top other than gas with heavy iron trivets. I just can’t get my head around cooking where I cannot see the flame, lol. I’ve heard glass and induction stove tops can be sensitive, so I am glad this works for you. It looks nice and light, compared to a big heavy stock pot.

I'm so excited to find your channel! I've been wanting to find someone in Vic who homesteads and gardens and cans and does many of the things I'm about to start doing! I'm guessing you're East of Melb. I'm in Geelong right now but have sold my house and am just waiting for my homestead to come onto the market. I'm heading West of here, towards the Otways. Still close enough that we'll be needing to plant the same things at the same time!
I got my steam canner last month. It's been on my Amazon wishlist for a couple of years, but I'm so close to having my homestead it's a need now, not a want. I've waterbathed a few things here but really don't like it. It feels like such a waste of water, plus lugging the big Presto full of water is not something I enjoy doing! I was going to use it this week as I'm making a bunch of curds as Christmas gifts but then I remembered that for the curd recipe to waterbath you have to put the jars in earlier as the water is coming up to a boil, so I'm not sure if that will be a straight conversion to a steam canner. I could just put the lids on and tell them to eat it within 3 weeks lol.
Off to watch more of your videos 😁

Do you have a link for where you got your steam canner please? I can’t seem to find anywhere that will deliver to Australia. Is it Aluminium or stainless steel?

Biggest problem with the steam canner is the amount of steam released into home and causing moisture buildup on windows when outdoor temps are cold.
