Dakar, Senegal, vs. Luanda, Angola

Dakar:
Dakar, a city at the end of the West African coast, is a unique blend of the Sahel's heat and the Atlantic Ocean's humidity. Its location, with the island of Gorée in sight, the former slave post, adds a layer of historical significance. Its population has doubled over the last 25 years, reaching 3.5 million compared to 1.8 million in 2000.

Dakar and Luanda are both rising cities, witnessing rapid growth and development. Dakar, under a stable democratic system, is transforming its neighbourhoods and transportation options, while Luanda is gentrifying at an unprecedented pace, thanks to significant Chinese investment. These cities are not just destinations but living, breathing entities, constantly evolving and progressing.

Luanda:
Like Dakar, like Luanda, it, too, is gentrifying at a much faster pace. No other city in sub-Saharan Africa has seen more Chinese money and development than Luanda. Whilst Dakar remains authentic African, Luanda prides itself on Europeanisation. Similar to the Gorée island, which Dakar faces towards the Atlantic, Luanda faces the Ilha de Luanda, which is shaped like a sickle and boasts beautiful sand beaches on both sides. Luanda is a city of contrasts. The Ilha de Luanda will always be Luanda's best exotic selling point.

The metropole's architecture and road network are vast and decent. In addition to the city's growing infrastructural advancement, it recently completed a new airport, a stunning feature on its own. It will facilitate travel between the city and the world. Luanda is a much older city with a richer skyline than Dakar.
