Hi Jaap, you have to check the phono amp, we always use the G700M2 by testing Technics turntables and many different cartridges. I can tell you it's great. The speakers we use are the Acoustic Energy AE509 because of the price segment. Yes the R1000 is a beast! @medonk, I prefer also without LAPC. The G700M2 has a MM/MC phono stage, high-mid-low adjusting which I do not use, the building quality is top. @ Dani, using the SL-1200G you need the 1000R " you don't drive an AMG with steel rims"

I have the SU- G 700 M2 when I went to use the set up button on the remote to change the base setting it didn’t come on. I reset the receiver but it still doesn’t work. I’ve never had this problem before. Unplugged unit to reset receiver and it still doesn’t work.

Any idea why the analog suffers? On AVR they seem to use less expensive op amps. I cannot find any detailed pictures online to locate op-amps if they are even used. The analog phono stage may use a different type of processing. Based on the reports of others the phono stage is good. Just purchased a used unit as I love the clarity of the old Technics AA class amps. Curious to hear it.

Do you understand what happens to the signal path when used as a pure power amplifier (using the 'main in' input). Does it still make an attempt to digitize the signal before sending it to the power amp?
I agree about LAPC, it does seem to make a positive difference.

Had this amp and digital part is excellent. Phono stage is not good compared to digital part. I have a technics 1200g turntable with top notch cartridge. Turntable sounded thin, lacking weight compared to digital. Tried 2 different riia with same result. Had high hopes for analog to sound as good as digital.

I listened to both the ...700 and ...1000 amp, with different speakers.
While many seem to prefer LAPC, for me it somehow always sounded better without. But as you said... it's a free goodie.
