Scalpers are going to have an absolute field day with this limited release. Especially it being a numbered release of only 12k units. I really wish they'd release faceplates for the og PS5 :/

I think Sony has lost their mind 😂 They should be rewarding their customers instead it’s the other way around. I’ve owned every Sony console since the 90s and this special edition is cool but the cost in today’s market is ridiculous. I think Sony should sell these consoles on their website to combat scalpers. A user account at least 1 year old would be needed but they don’t care all they want is $$$

If theyd launched THIS as the PS5 Pro and NOT limited the distribution the online reaction to that $700 price point would've been MUCH different

I’m disappointed that they are making this limited, why not just offer this for all fans to have access? It’s supposed to celebrate 30 years so why do it this way? I think it looks great but making it readily available makes more sense in my opinion.

I feel this shouldn't be so limited. They should sell this in stores and keep it stocked for a year or at least long enough to have it sell and have only with a disc drive. That will not only help people be more ok with the price but also limit sclupers from going after it too much while letting more people who want it get it. If it wasn't so limited and still digital unless you spend extra I think I will pass on the PS5 all together. I am fine with playing my other consoles and pc game too. I think Sony screwed it up this gen with the PS5 over all that has made me want to skip waning their console for the first time ever.

I agree with you Reggie, releasing the pro like that for general availability would have been good. The nostalgia probably would move a lot more consoles, and make more people happy.

I see this and all I can take from it is: „look it’s cool and you’ll not getting one, fu“

Scalpers are already salivating at the 30th anniversary PS5. Expect to see these for $1500 on eBay.

They should have at least have a disc drive and have players play all PS1 discs for the 30th anniversary. Or even also play all PS2 discs.

When I saw the video I was super excited and convinced myself to sell my ps5 now to get this later….but then I remembered the world we live in with scalpers and I got depressed knowing there’s a less than 5% chance I’ll be able to get my hands on one lol

I thought they did a great job with the design of these products with the OG box styles, the PS1 style charging cable and other options but man are people who want one in trouble. The fact its basically simultaneous with a new upgraded console release in general is crazy. Getting these is gonna be impossible and a lot more stand to lose than win. Great coverage Reggie, FOMO gonna beat people up with this one.

I have the Halo Infinite Xbox. Microsoft made 117k of them. They were sold out online in seconds. I was extremely lucky to get one. I would have to literally be 10x luckier to get one of these. I will try anyway, but I expect them to be gone before they ever show up online.
