My Grandfather was Maximiliano Herrera from Tlaltenango, Zacatecas, Mexico. He lead troops and opened the doors of the church in Tlaltenango and because of his faith and belief in freedom of religion the Government hunted him down and tortured, beat and hanged him. And I'm proud to say he was my Grandfather.

My great grand uncle fought in the cristero war. He fought for the Cristeros but was seriously wounded in a gun fight in 1928, and passed away in November of that year. Viva mi tio General Victorino Barcenas! Viva El Cristo Rey!

I just saw this movie today, on Netflix!.. This is an amazing and moving film!.. I cried!!!.. I loved the cast.. I learned something awesome and very valuable about the people and this story a historic time in Mexico.. This film was made with alot of heart.. Very passionate movie.. Beautifully made..

In the '50 and '60, Romania was under the same siege. Our "army" of faithful was fighting in the forests, in the mountains and in the villages. They were tens of thousands. They also died for freedom.They are our testament for those if someone will try take away our freedom again.

my mom took me to see this today. i wasn't really expecting much, but it was SO GOOD. i've seriously never cried more in any other movie except the passion! man, just thinking about it almost has me crying again because it upsets me so much that this actually happened!

Finally, a movie worth seeing. I was getting tired with all these CGI/action flicks with no real story. I thought I would go watch something different.

I was deeply moved. I had no idea Mexico has a history like this.

I just leaned my grandmother left in 1926 to flee the region. Makes more sense how I remember always praying her rosary. I was able to have my great grandmother around until I was 27.
