It was the first time a Finnish Prime Minister visited the Prime Minister of New Zealand, but the most viral moment of the trip has turned out to be a sexist question that shocked not only the two leaders but several people online. Jacinda Ardern, who has led New Zealand since 2017, hosted Sanna Marin, Finland’s leader since 2019, in Auckland. In a joint statement, they were taken aback when a reporter suggested that they were meeting because they were both young women. Ardern gave a sharp response and said, "No one ever asked Barack Obama and John Key if they met because they were of similar age."
