We bring you an exclusive video of the upcoming BMW M5 Hybrid 2023. In this video, we also get to listen to the exhaust and engine sound of the BMW M5 Hybrid.

Logic tells us that BMW will use the plug-in hybrid powertrain from the BMW XM. The 4.4 liter V8 is paired with an electric motor and can deliver up to 750 horsepower. It's unknown whether the BMW M5 2023 will get the same power output as the XM or slightly lower.

This is also a brand-new V8 engine, codename S68, so the sound is slightly different than the current V8. We can hear different exhaust blurbs under full load, along with some idle engine sounds.

Let's take a look at the future BMW M5 Hybrid 2023!

What's your preference: Fully electric BMW M5 or M5 hybrid?

All the M5s were the last M5 in something... the E39 was the last M5 with a naturally aspirated V8, the E60 was the last naturally aspirated V10 M5, the F10 was the last RWD M5, the F90 is the last M5 to not be electrically assisted and probably the next gen will be the last one to use a combustion engine

So happy they kept the combustion engine! I love the 4.4L.

V8 PHEV is the best combo
Just cruising around town in full EV mode in either of our current BMW's (330e and X5 45e) is great, with adaptive suspension on X5 really making it a smooth and almost silent luxury ride.
But... it is great to have that sound of the ICE when you want it and the M5 really needs to keep that harmonious "growl" that is only produced by a V8 engine.
IMHO I do not think any M car should go fully electric any time soon as sound is part of its DNA

I know that sound personally. Sounds like a 4.4L v8 under the hood.

Not that I can afford one 😥 but I hope the production car sounds this good!

I reckon the E39 is back! That V8 noise when the car accelerated from the gate is quite glorious.

Well i am old school BMW guy here
BMW M5 like the E28, E34 and E39 are the legendary ultimate driving machine they marked a very important era for BMW now the new generations starting with the E60 are great machines as well i love the F10 look but the way the automotive industry is going with the electric i am pretty sure BMW will come up with a BMW M5 something to drool about when you see it i wish i can have at least the chance to seat at least in the passenger side of either a full electric or plug in hybrid BMW M5

I worry about the weight of this. But a hybrid M5? The best of electric and petrol? Yes.

I'm good with the hybrid for now but full electric is coming 🙂🔌

Really good sound for a hybrid car it will probably be something like 2000-2080kg but it will be 100% lighter than competitors like Audi and Merc

It sounds more N/A, I presume its because there aren't 2 turbo strapped to the exhaust now, but 2 hybrid motors attached to the drivetrain itself??

When in 2024 do you think it will launch? I hand in my X3MC lease 5/24... would love to jump into an M5...

BMW owns Rolls Royce so it makes perfect sense to simultaneously release new footage of the upcoming Rolls hybrid along with the new hybrid 7 & 5 series. All will have shared engines & electric bits etc.

Hybrid will do for now and let me say if that is how it sounds...keep the ICE until the last permissible second.

Does the grill have. Vertical slats or horizontal?

First if you know anything about BMW they always underrate thier engines performance. The current bmw m5 cs is rated on paper at 627hp but in reality its closer if not over 700hp. Which means this new version will be well over 700hp. And this is going to be nothing compared to the new S68 engine that they will be producing.

It's going to be about 2000kg. But should still be 100-200kg lighter than most of it's competitors
